The DDoEFM (CI&D) will be a senior management team member of the EFM Team and will have responsibility for developing long-term strategic policy and business planning for capital development functions. Amongst other duties, they will:

Be the professional lead for all capital and construction programmes at NUH across the full three stages of the Capital Investment Manual. They will be engaged in this capacity across the Trusts investment decision making bodies and programme committees and boards, providing expert advice on strategic estates planning, investment decision making the delivery of estates annexes to business cases and construction delivery. The post holder will have lead responsibility for the construction phase of all capital projects.

Support the DoEF under the NUH Scheme of Delegation, for the development and delivery of the Trust Estate Strategy, the execution of works and the appointment of Professional Technical Advisors and Development Team staff.

Manage the capital projects team at NUH but importantly will further roll out delivery of key recommendations made in a capital review undertaken in 2022 by an external consultant. This will include increasing NUH capacity and Capability in investment decision making and capital planning functions.

The Deputy Director of Estates & Facilities - Capital Investment & Development (DDoEFM - CI&D) will deputise as required for the Director of Estates & Facilities (DoEF) on all matters as required by the post. This will require the post holder to take on full responsibility at corporate level, work autonomously and be a subject matter expert within their specialist field with the highest level of communication skill to support NUH's strategic and operational agenda.

The post holder will be a key member of the Divisions Senior Management Team (SMT) and as such will work with others in the Team to deliver upon the business plan and corporate objective and targets across the full spectrum of the Estates and Facilities function.

In accordance with the work stages of the NHS Capital Investment Manual (CIM), the post holder will be a subject matter expert in all matters relating to the management of capital investment decision making, complex capital planning and construction. This to include ownership and further development of the NUH site masterplan.

The postholder will act as the professional lead in all capital developments for the Trust, effectively supporting the major programmes that NUH has in place (Tomorrows NUH and the Reconfiguration Programme) as well as the delivery of annual capital programmes that now push upwards towards £150m per annum.

1. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

· To deliver an efficient ward-based technical pharmacy service to the intensive care units and theatres to ensure the accurate and timely supply of medicines. This service will include:

2. RESPONSIBILITY FOR PATIENTS

· To analyse and interpret prescriptions within intensive care and either resolve problems with the prescriber or refer problems beyond their competence to the pharmacist.

· To identify and prioritise services to individual patients as necessary.

· To support nursing staff in reducing the number of missed doses of medication.

· To liaise with other members of the Pharmacy team to ensure the continuity of care for patients transferred to and from intensive care.

· To accurately input data into the pharmacy computer system to produce labels and dispense medication.

· To act as an Accredited Checking Technician (ACT) to expedite the supply of urgent items to the intensive care units and theatres.

· To counsel patients (where appropriate) on any newly initiated medicines with the aim of promoting their understanding of and compliance with.





3. RESPONSIBILITY FOR POLICY AND SERVICE DEVELOPMENT

· In conjunction with the Senior Specialist Pharmacist – Critical Care & Theatres, to be responsible for the technical pharmacy service development to the intensive care units and theatres. This will include auditing the current service provided and producing / implementing strategies to improve / develop the service.

· In conjunction with the Senior Specialist Pharmacist – Critical Care & Theatres, to develop, implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures relating to technical elements of the service to the intensive care and theatres, and to contribute to other policies for intensive care and theatres.

· To contribute to other intensive care and theatre policies and guidelines. To assist in implementing UK-wide medicines management and prescribing recommendations e.g. NICE.

· To ensure that all activities, procedures, and documentation meet the requirements of current legislation, including CQC requirements.

· To develop KPIs and collect and report on data relating to the workload and activities of the intensive care pharmacy team.

· To work with other healthcare professionals to identify the risks of medicines within intensive care and theatres and to devise and implement strategies to reduce the risk.

Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care Board has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated registered pharmacy technician to apply for the Pharmacy Technician Project Support Manager role. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Integrated Care Board (ICB) Medicines Optimisation Team Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System, working within a team of highly skilled and motivated Pharmacists and Technicians who share an overarching goal to support quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of prescribing in Staffordshire.

There is opportunity to be a key part in the delivery of broad range of medicines optimisation projects covering strategic programmes such as high cost medicines, formulary management, prescribing analysis, and Medicine Optimisation governance. These all building on and utilising the key skills of Pharmacy Technicians in providing technical support to agreed projects, facilitating the development, effective delivery and monitoring of the project plans within the overarching Medicines Optimisation Strategy

Key responsibilities will include the ongoing monitoring and review of high cost drugs/technologies. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.

Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by North Ayrshire Council. Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant PVG check (£59 or £18), which will be deducted in instalments from your wages following commencement of employment.
