As a Branch Chief in the Investment Company Regulation Office of the Division of Investment Management, your work assignments may include any of the following tasks:

The primary purpose of the ATTORNEY-ADVISER (GENERAL), GS-0905-13, is to serve as the full-time professional legal adviser and support to the Adjutant General, the Commander of federally recognized Army and Air National Guards, and state/territory unique public defense or safety structures or wing commander . In this primary purpose, this position also serves as the full-time professional legal advisor and support to Sexual Assault Response Coordinator and State Equal Employment Opportunity advisors, and subordinate commanders to support the state prevention efforts relating to sexual assault, sexual harassment, and domestic abuse . This position also serves as a professional legal adviser to the United States Property and Fiscal Officer (USPFO), state/territory National Guard senior leadership, state/territory National Guard directorates, and subordinate National Guard commanded units or state/territory level divisions.

• Serves as the state/territory National Guard litigation point of contact. Represents the state/territory National Guard in all legal matters in state/territory of original or appellate jurisdictions, to include matters pertaining to sexual crimes, sexual harassment, and domestic violence/abuse. Conducts investigations of fact and legal sufficiency; advising on administrative remedies; develops the trial strategy, content and means of presentation, and trial delivery; makes motions; and conducts post-trial duties. Prepares litigation reports, briefs, pleadings, and other papers associated with litigation involving the state/territory National Guard interests. Advises on discovery obligations for senior leaders and members of the state/territory National Guard.
• Serves as an attorney/adviser providing acquisition and fiscal legal advice to the state/territory's assigned United States Property & Fiscal Officer, particularly in the area of emerging requirements in victim support and legal resourcing (the Chief of the National Guard Bureau's agent in the state/territory) and active-duty military advisers. Advises Army National Guard (ARNG) and Air National Guard (ANG) contracting officers, reviews contracts, procurement actions and real property matters involving Federal and state/territory funds (some involving substantial amounts of money) for legal sufficiency, appropriate titling and claim initiation or resolution actions. Responsible for advising on any fiscal contracts that address DoD policy and programs aimed at integration and implementation of the prevention of sexual harassment, sexual assault, victims' right, workplace violence, domestic violence, family abuse, and suicide.
• Provides or participates in various training activities, prepares reports, and provides counsel on complex ethics issues and policies; and ensures Federal and state/territory annual administrative reporting requirements are met. Reviews sensitive financial disclosure statements for General Officers and other key personnel. Reviews Claim Investigating Officer reports, adjudication recommendations, regardless of filing location, and approves forwarding of actions to the appropriate claim's office. Reviews for legal sufficiency and approves or dispatches recommended action to approving authorities a variety of documents or investigative determinations such as freedom of information requests, financial liability investigations, line of duty determinations, and similar administrative proceedings.
• Provides oversight and guidance to the state/territory Judge Advocate's Legal Office, Legal Assistance and Preventative Law Programs, and supervises assigned full-time attorney and support staff. Coordinates the provision of legal services throughout the state and oversees the assignments of attorney and paralegal personnel within the subordinate units in both the Army and Air National Guard to accomplish all legal support requirements.
