The Role
Project Engineer with construction industry experience to assist in the delivery of the BlueScope project in Port Kembla. This role reports directly into the Senior Project Engineer and will work closely with Supervisors and Leading Hands onsite ensuring prompt project delivery.
Permanent, full-time role with standard construction site hours.
The Senior Project Engineer will provide support to this role, which involves closely collaborating with on-site personnel to ensure timely project delivery and high-quality work. Training will be provided as necessary.
The ideal candidate should possess experience or exposure to remedial works, to ensure adherence to client expectations, company objectives, and contractual obligations.
In addition to working with a skilled and efficient team, the selected candidate will have continuous project exposure, facilitating the further development of technical and project management skills. Exceptional performance will create opportunities for career advancement into senior project positions

This role includes a vehicle and fuel card as part of the package.
Works will include:
• Demolition and repair of wharf deck
• Front service duct (FSD) removal using a combination of hydro-demolition and wire sawing, FSD replacement
• Impressed current cathodic protection system to be implemented
• FSD formwork and concrete pour method
• Adding to the existing wharf with a berth extension
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare project-specific documentation, including technical, safety, environmental, and quality (QSE) deliverables such as method statements, MDRs, plans, and other required documentation.
• Provide technical advice and support to the project delivery team, ensuring that project objectives are achieved. Assist in monitoring project performance, including tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Conduct proactive inspections of project activities to monitor progress and ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and QSE standards/best practices.
• Offer technical advice to industrial or managerial personnel regarding design, construction, program modifications, or structural repairs.
• Assist the Project Manager in directing construction, operations, or maintenance activities at the project site.
• Guide and actively participate in surveying to establish reference points, grades, or elevations for construction purposes.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to assess quantities, costs of materials, equipment, and labor, determining project feasibility.
• Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical/geologic data.
• Identify and resolve problems using appropriate processes such as Technical Queries (TQs) or Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Seek innovative, alternative, and efficient constructability options whenever possible.
• Foster a positive teamwork environment to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations at all times.
• Conduct regular quality audits and take steps to improve any shortcomings identified.
• Oversee designated construction, operations, or maintenance activities as directed by the Project Manager.
• Maintain up-to-date and accessible project documents and associated registers for the project delivery team.
• Assist in the preparation of tenders by coordinating internal process documentation, quantity surveying, or preparing bid components, as required.
• Maintain project controls as directed by the Project Manager, including the management and coordination of QAQC testing activities to ensure specification compliance.
• Direct or participate in surveying activities to ensure accurate construction.
• Monitor procurement activities to ensure the fulfillment of commercial and quality objectives.
The successful applicant will ideally have:
• Degree in Civil/Structural or Materials Engineering
• Previous experience in a similar industry/role
• Previous remediation experience desirable
• Experience with cathodic protection highly regarded
• Strong computer skills MS Office suite
• Previous project coordination experience
