As a Research Ecologist, you will perform the following duties:

- Perform the full spectrum of research activities, including development of short and long-term plans, analysis of proposed research, preparation of cost and resources, oversight and control of efforts to support research projects, procurement, development and testing of research studies, implementation planning, and publication in peer-reviewed scientific literature and/or briefing of research results.

- Utilize comprehensive knowledge of conservation biology, marine ecology, natural resources, and environmental sciences to synthesize complex scientific information into a variety of scientific publications and public outreach materials (e.g., Condition Reports, educational materials, input for websites).

- Build partnerships with external organizations to further a sanctuary site's science needs and priorities, including obtaining research funding and grants and organizing technical meetings. Coordinate with other sanctuaries to expand research efforts, and efficiently utilize and share resources within Office of National Marine Sanctuaries (ONMS).

- Provide expert advice and recommendations to novel, complex, and controversial issues. Represent ONMS at national and international meetings, conferences, resource management boards, research advisory panels, etc.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Director is fully responsible for the overall management, design, development, evaluation, and coordinating of activities for the Center. Implements a full range of duties including all matters concerning personnel recruitment, selection, and performance assessment; development and control of the Center's budget and approval of activities requiring the Center's resources. The incumbent will have oversight and authority of the Block Grant Program for data collection, evaluations, and the National Data Base(s).

Provides leadership in the development of a national substance abuse and mental health epidemiological studies program, including surveys, studies, methodological developments and systems which may involve over 3600 clinics, 1000 programs, 56 State and Territorial mental health and/or substance abuse programs, and numerous federal agencies.

Exercises oversight responsibility for epidemiological studies and service system data collection activities performed by the components of SAMHSA and provides expertise relative to epidemiological field investigations, research methods, statistical analysis and systems design. Assists the components through creative program management and development, in maximizing existing data analysis and collection programs to meet the new and changing needs of the field.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Supports the Director in oversight of all administration functions, including human resource planning and management, financial management and analysis, performance monitoring and reporting systems management, action item tracking, data request coordination, space planning, and any other related activities to assure the fulfillment of the overall administrative standards and process for the office.

Supports the Director in planning and implementing policies and initiatives related to behavioral health statistics, program evaluation and/or epidemiology.

Executive managerial and diplomacy skills are required to perform a variety of high-level policy coordinative, consultative, advisory, and management services. Provide executive leadership in the establishment of short and long-range goals, objectives, and plans for substance use disorders and ensures consistency with goals and objectives established by HHS, the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), other federal agencies and the health community.

Provides advice to the Center Director in coordinating and establishing policies, procedures, and standards for cross agency program initiatives i.e., data analytical designs and strategies, evidence based program evaluation and health information technology.

• Oversee agreements to ensure financial plans are established and billings are prepared.
• Analyze information concerning costs, personnel, budgets, equipment, and facility services.
• Recommend improvements in accountability procedures and systems to management.
• Assist with coordinating the inspection of facilities to evaluate compliance with safety and health policies.

Serves as technician and field project lead for Invasive Plant Management Team projects. Under the direction of the IPMT liaison, implements invasive plant control, restoration, and seed collection projects through logistical/supply planning, implementation, and assessment phases. Leads and/or collaborates with partners on projects to manage invasive plants and restore habitat in national parks. Spends majority of time working on projects in the field. Applies herbicides and other invasive plant controls using light to heavy equipment. Uses chainsaws, brush-cutters, and other mechanical equipment to control invasive plants and restore plant communities. Works on multi-day deployments over an extensive field season, at times in extreme weather conditions and in the face of a variety of natural hazards.

Physical Demands: The work is partially sedentary with prolonged standing, walking, and bending often required. Heavy items (e.g., equipment and packs up to 50 pounds) must be lifted and carried on a routine basis.

Working Conditions: The work is performed in an office, laboratory, and in the field. Field work includes exposure to extreme weather conditions and terrain, pesticides, poisonous plants, biting insects, and wild animals. Laboratory work may involve exposure to hazardous chemicals. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.

This is not a remote position. Work will be performed primarily in Los Angeles County, CA (North) which includes travel throughout Los Angeles (Northern part) county.

THIS POSITION IS PART-TIME ONLY AND DOES NOT LEAD TO FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT. THIS IS NOT ENTRY LEVEL FOR AN ECONOMIST POSITION.

The initial average hours per week will be 16 to 32 hours to start depending on workload and training requirements. Work schedule will vary week to week depending upon work requirements. Housing training and some C&S training are accomplished through distance learning. Notice will be given of planned training events that require travel.

Economic Assistants collect prices and related statistical data on a wide variety of commodities, services, and housing for the BLS Consumer Price Index. Data for commodities and services are collected by conducting personal and telephone interviews with store managers and buyers, managers in auto dealerships, doctors, pharmacists, and other professionals. Data for the housing survey are obtained by personal visit or telephone interview with either property managers, tenants, or homeowners. The incumbent conducts the duties of this position in situations requiring written and verbal fluency in Spanish and English. Converses and writes fluently in both languages in order to communicate with various customers, as well as read and analyze documents containing Spanish language. The Central Virginia Veterans Affairs Health Care System, Richmond VAMC is looking for a Registered Nurse into the role of SCI/D RN Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse in the Spinal Cord Injury Unit, off tour, and alternating/weekend shifts.


Duties include, but are not limited to:

-The Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders (SCI/D) RN Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse is directly responsible to the designated manager in the assigned area; the registered nurse is responsible for the prevention, health maintenance, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitative nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran SCI/D patient population with disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems.

-Participates in the interdisciplinary plan of care.

-Participates in wound care rounds.

-Maintain records of wounds, both present on admission and hospital-acquired.

-Make recommendations for wound ostomy continence patient needs.

-Provide staff education related to wound ostomy and continence nursing care.

-Provides extensive patient education.

-Participates in telehealth conferences for patients with wound, ostomy, and continence needs.
