• ensuring the effective and efficient deployment of classroom support;
• liaison with the Curriculum Leader/Assistant Headteacher to ensure the implementation of department policy and practice.

Monitoring, Assessment, Recording, Reporting:

• To assess how well learning objectives have been achieved and use them to improve specific aspects of teaching.
• To assess and monitor students’ work and set targets for progress.
• To assess and record students’ progress systematically and keep records to check work is understood and completed, monitor strengths and areas for development, inform planning and recognise the level at which the student is achieving.
• To undertake assessment of students as requested by examination bodies, departmental and school procedures.
• To contribute to the preparation and presentation of informative reports to parents/carers.
• To undertake assessment of students and participate in the school’s system reporting to parents/carers.

Tutor Duties:

• To be a Tutor to an assigned group of students to undertake daily learning checks .
• To promote the general progress and well-being of individual students and of the Tutor Group as a whole.
• To liaise with the Head of Year to ensure the implementation of the school’s systems.
• To register students, accompany them to assemblies, encourage their full attendance at all lessons and their participation in other aspects of school life.
• To alert appropriate staff to problems experienced by students and make recommendations as to how these may be resolved.
• To communicate, as appropriate, with parents of students and persons or bodies outside the school concerned with the welfare of individual students, after consultation with appropriate staff.

Other job requirements:

• The teacher will be part of the school’s performance management system and will have a team leader who will set agreed objectives for the year. The team leader will monitor and review performance including classroom teaching.
• The school will support the continuing professional development of all staff, to ensure that their expertise is being kept up to date and that they are professionally fulfilled in their roles.
• Liaise with the Curriculum Leader to ensure the implementation of department policy and practice.
• Support other teachers with the delivery of an appropriate, challenging curriculum that fulfils the National Curriculum providing opportunities for student progression.

What skills and experience we're looking for



he Head of Subject: Food Technology will be expected to:

• Work with the Middle and Senior Leadership Teams to secure the strategic vision of the school in line with the broad educational vision of Heartlands Community Trust, providing outstanding leadership that establishes the school as a leading provider of high quality education for its students.
• Deliver the highest possible educational standards and create a high expectation culture in which students feel safe, valued and motivated to succeed.
• Assist the Middle and Senior Leadership Teams in the effective day-to-day organisation and management of the school and contribute to the leadership capacity of the school.
• Secure the achievement of specified Key Performance Indicators and targets for Food Technology as identified in the School Strategic Plan.
• Help to manage standards of learning and behaviour in the Food Technology department and wider school on a day-to-day basis, ensuring high expectations and full commitment to achieving outstanding outcomes.
• Provide high quality Food Technology teaching, effective use of resources and high standards of learning and achievement for all students.
• Support the delivery of exceptionally high standards of literacy and oracy across the school.
• Be accountable for the attainment and progress in Food Technology at the school.
• Be prepared to support the overall aims of the school by teaching a subject other than Food Technology where reasonably required and by showing flexibility in approach as the school/ Trust expands.
• Aspire to create enrichment opportunities for students to study additional aspects of the subject beyond the core curriculum, in line with Food Technology programmes.

• The attainment and progress in Food Technology at the school.
