We are looking for a capable and dynamic Graduate Intern to join the Dance Science team at Trinity Laban. The ideal candidate will be someone who has a passion for learning, enjoys working within an academic institution, has a keen interest in performing artist health and science and has potential to gain new experiences and grow within the role. The fixed term role is designed to provide professional development opportunities for early career individuals.

The postholder will help to provide support for students who are studying on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and assist Dance Science colleagues with departmental and programmes’ activities and events, including supporting the running of the Conditioning Studio. You will assist the Lab Technicians, Programme and Module Leaders with teaching and research activities on the undergraduate and postgraduate dance science programmes. You will help ensure that students have competency to use the lab equipment and work responsibly with participants. You will have a central role in promoting of the programmes and departmental services through our social media, practical workshops and recruitment visits. You will also play a key role in supporting the Fitness Screening and Health Programme; aiding in organising and delivering fitness tests to performing arts students, as well as the in-house research to support dancers’ fitness and health.

Previous interns have gone on to work successfully within clinics, academic institutions and professional organisations as dance science teachers, managers and administrators or have gone on to further study in dance science and related areas.

The main remit of the post is to promote to ensure the successful recruitment of students from the UK and overseas to add to an already diverse and talented student body, across music and dance. You will take the lead on managing recruitment from our Asian markets, with a particular focus on East and South East Asia. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining sustainable partnerships with institutions overseas, supporting the development of joint programmes and staff and student exchange.

The post holder will further develop mutually beneficial relationships with schools, agents and partners, whilst developing new contacts for Trinity Laban. You will identify and leverage promotional opportunities across target markets, attending targeted educational events, and hold presentations with schools and recruitment fairs. You will organise overseas auditions, masterclasses and workshops, working closely with Academic colleagues. You will work closely with colleagues in Learning and Participation, Registry and Alumni Relations, to ensure that Trinity Laban recruits suitable students from diverse backgrounds, to meet our programme and instrument needs.

Educated to degree level, and ideally fluent in Mandarin, you will have a minimum of two years’ experience of a relevant role in education or arts administration. You will have a strong understanding of educational recruitment practices and marketing and communications skills, including use of Chinese social media platforms. You will be able to confidently represent the Conservatoire internally and externally to a range of stakeholders including senior management and government or embassy officials. Experience and knowledge of music and/or dance and/or working in an HE environment would be extremely desirable.

The award-winning Jerwood Library of the Performing Arts, which supports teaching, learning, performance and research within the Faculty of Music, seeks to appoint a full-time Library Assistant to join its small specialist team.

You will assist with the day-to-day running of core services, including staffing the issue desk and carrying out processing and repair work on stock. You will also be required to provide help and advice to students to enable them to make best use of the library facilities.

We are seeking someone with:

a degree (preferably in music, otherwise other formal study of classical music and library experience is required)
experience of working in a customer-focused environment
excellent general knowledge of classical music history and repertoire and the ability to read music
the ability to work on your own initiative and as an effective part of a small team
a meticulous approach to detail
Experience of working in a library would be advantageous.

This role, as part of our rapidly developing Creative Technology Services team, will play an important role in supporting and developing the use of creative audio-visual technologies by both staff and students in teaching, self-practice, rehearsing, and performance.

As one of 4 technicians in the department who share a general multifaceted role title, the tasks performed are varied and take place across all of the institution's locations. All technicians will be trained up over time so that they can offer:

Day to day support for the Music Faculty (including issuing and returning borrowable equipment, maintenance, and responding to queries).
Day to day support for the Dance Faculty (including issuing and returning borrowable equipment, maintenance, and responding to queries).
Live sound and general and projection support at performances and events.
Video capture of selected performances and assessments, editing, and distribution.
You’ll have a passion for audio visual media, video editing, and using cameras and projectors creatively, and be able to listen to student and staff requirements and advise and support the range of borrowable equipment offered for loans.

You will support teaching staff in maximising the use of multimedia to enhance lessons, thinking ingeniously to assist students in achieving their creative vision in a diverse range of performances, you’ll have access to a wide-range of multimedia technologies (including both software and hardware) to help realise these outcomes.

Being friendly and supportive to everyone who asks you for assistance, you will have imagination and excellent writing skills for creating articles on our knowledgebase and responding to emails, have an interest in and experience with audiovisual technologies, as well as enjoying creative problem solving. Through all of this you’ll be supported, be offered training, and encouraged to further develop your own skills and interests in relevant areas.
