Dermatology is a very busy specialty, providing care to around 550 adult and paediatric patients per week, working alongside experienced colleagues across multi-disciplinary teams with the goal to provide the best care for our patients. We are the best performing Dermatology service within Greater Manchester and this is achieved through great management, support from other services and dedication to providing excellent patient care to our community.

• Daily cleaning of equipment


• To provide an initial tidy of the patient areas.


• To raise queries in relation to the provision of cleaning services.


• The housekeeper will have delegated responsibility under supervision of the Ward Manager/Service Manager for the sourcing of clinical kit and consumables.








• To assist with providing refreshments as required to patients.


• To be aware financial stock management and make effective use of resources, stock rotation.


• Report damaged/faulty equipment to the service provider, ensuring that all medical devices are decontaminated in accordance with Trust Policy.


• Undertake tasks relevant to role and patient care need, as follows:

Make safe and clean spillage, including body fluids.


• Changing of medical gas cylinders on the unit, using appropriate methods of work.


• Assist and take direction in the event of any fire/major accident or incident.





COMMUNICATION:


• Maintain an effective communication network; both verbal and written, informing nursing staff of all matters which would normally be referred to a more experienced person.


• Assist in maintaining, recording and storing non-patient information, including electronic data, within the department.


• Liaise with other service providers to support the efficiency of the unit.


• Meet and welcome patients/families and familiarise them with the environment.


• Transport messages to other departments as requested.


• Develop and maintain good relationships with team members, patients/carers, and visitors to the unit. Provide assistance when necessary.



ORGANISATION:


• Unpack supplies and restock agreed areas daily in relation to products.


• Check and put away all non-controlled pharmacy products.


• Maintain safe storage of equipment. Check and tidy equipment stores as required.


• Raise queries in relation to planned maintenance of fixtures, fittings and equipment.


• Raise a service call for faulty equipment and location of loaned equipment. Liaise with wards/departments and external service providers to ensure equipment is returned.











MOVING AND HANDLING:


• Staff member to attend trust mandatory moving and handling training and participate in any in house training.


• Assist with the transfer of patients, using equipment as directed, for example a Patient slide, hoist.







INFECTION CONTROL:


• Dispose of clinical and other waste, sharps and soiled linen to a central collection point in line with Trust policy.


• Disinfect, assemble and dismantle equipment for cleaning purposes only in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.


• The post holder must comply with all relevant policies, procedures and training on infection prevention and control.





STAFF DEVELOPMENT:


• Participate in KSF Review. Develop an annual Personal Development Plan to identify Training and Development needs in line with personal and organisational objectives. Maintain a KSF Portfolio.


• Sustain and improve own development by using opportunities provided by the Trust.


• Assist with induction programmes for newly appointed staff.

• Be proactive in improving patient satisfaction, taking every opportunity to defuse and pre-empt possible complaints.

Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious Sonographer to join its highly motivated Radiology Team at The Royal Bolton Hospital and fulfil the role of an Ultrasound Clinical Tutor.

The Person

Reporting directly to the Lead Sonographer, you will be independently responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of the practical aspect of the University courses implemented within the department. You will also be a senior member of the ultrasound team with responsibility for coordinating and delivering specialist clinical training and education to the sonographers, midwife ultrasound practitioners (MUP’s) and ultrasound trainees. Alongside training and educational responsibilities, you will be responsible carrying out and reporting on specialised ultrasound examinations to a high standard and in a professional manner. Holding a post graduate ultrasound qualification you will have excellent clinical skills, and experience. In addition to qualifications in either general medical, obstetric and gynaecological scanning, it would be advantageous to have experience across a wide range of examinations.

In order to apply for this post you must be an experienced sonographer and possess PGC/D in Medical Ultrasound. Registration on the voluntary SCoR sonographer or HCPC or NMC registration is also expected.

The Role

You will work closely with the sonography team, senior colleagues and radiologists across the Trust, to develop and maximise training and education within the ultrasound service with a focus on the ultrasound trainees within the department. We are looking to recruit a Dietetic Assistant who wishes to develop their skills in supporting patients who require nutritional support. The patients on your caseload will live in a community setting, the majority will either live in a care home or in a supportive living setting.

We would like the successful candidate to become an integral part of our community team, helping newly recruited dietitians to settle into the area and the department.

You will report to the Community Team Team Leaders, the successful post holder will be part of the wider Bolton Foundation Trust Dietetic Department. The department is composed of two teams, acute and community with a total of 19 W.T.E staff. We provide an integrated service across both our Hospital and Community sites meeting the needs of our patients across the whole of the Bolton population.

We are experienced trainers for student dietitians currently providing P1, P2 and P3 placements with the University of Chester, MMU and UCLAN. 

The service operates a flexi-time working arrangement and recognises the importance of balancing the needs of work with family commitments. The post is a 37.5 hours/week post although part time hours may be considered. 

This post is subject to Disclosure by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). 

You will work alongside a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner’s and under the direct supervision of the Dietitians. You will be involved in the collection of clinical information to assist dietetic assessment and practical aspects of implementing / monitoring the nutritional recommendations made by the dietitian.

A key aspect of the role involves educating members of the healthcare team and promoting first line nutrition support strategies.
