Hertford House is a male only unit of ten beds and two independent assessment flats. Service users have severe and enduring mental illness but are all engaged actively in rehabilitation plans that focus on them 'living their best life' with or without symptoms and with a view toward independent living. The unit recognises the importance of engagement and motivation in recovery and OT plays an important role in care planning. The OT staff within our STR service are engaged in QI projects looking at improving service users and families experience of services and are actively engaged in service improvements at all levels.



As the OT in the team, you will have responsibility to assess and develop OT intervention , using a range of assessment and guidelines, including MOHOST and formulations. You will have the direct support of a Band 7 Lead OT, OT Consultant, other Band 6 STR staff and activity worker.

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust has seven Steps to Recovery units, offering a range of rehabilitation services. This post is based at Dan Mooney House and David Bromley House, two Complex Care Units located on the same site in Knowle, Solihull. The post holder will contribute to the work of the multidisciplinary teams on the units, building collaborative relationships with service users to enhance wellbeing and support recovery. They will also be warmly welcomed into a well-established and supportive group of psychologists working across Steps to Recovery and Assertive Outreach Services.


Individuals at Band 8b or with suitable experience and eligible for this banding will be considered.

Band 4 Team Administrator -Enhanced RECONNECT Service

2 year fixed term contract / secondment

The Enhanced RECONNECT (ER) service supports individuals with convictions and complex needs to engage with and get the right treatment from mental health, substance misuse and other services, for up to a year after release from prison. Service users will be supported by expert care navigators working with health and probation services. ER will offer an enhanced pathway of care and is NHS England’s response to the management of those with high complexity health needs who are deemed to be at high risk of harm to the public. The ER service will work in collaboration with partners, including those from across government, to ensure that such individuals have their needs addressed. This may include, but is not limited to, those convicted of violent and sexual offences, terrorist act offences (Terrorism Act, 2000) and individuals at risk of committing terrorist acts. This risk must be related to a health need.

ER takes a partnership approach to managing the most complex and high-risk individuals who leave prison and will specifically work with individuals that have a high complexity of health need, may be a risk to the public and those who need longer term support to engage and remain engaged with community health and support services. The service will cover Birmingham and Solihull as part of the Secure Care and Offender Health division (BSMHFT) but some travel will be required.



Working as the sole administrator within a multidisciplinary team, you will need excellent organisational, communication and IT skills. You will need to meet deadlines, collate data and maintain standards relating to administrative processes. The ability to work under pressure will be essential and you must have the ability to manage your time effectively in order to meet the needs of the service.

A thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and experience of working in a busy office environment is essential. You will also be expected to cover reception duties when required and therefore, some experience of working in a compassionate and inclusive way with service users with complex and challenging presentations may be beneficial.

The successful applicant with have an NVQ Level III in Business Admin or equivalent plus relevant experience of working in an administrative role.

We are inviting applications for a Band 8b Principal Clinical Psychologist post. The successful applicant will provide clinical line management to four wte clinical/counselling psychologists, working in our Home Treatment Teams. You will work closely with the Clinical Nurse Manager for BSMHFT’s Home Treatment Teams (HTTs) and will be professionally line managed by the Consultant Lead Clinical Psychologist for Acute and Urgent Care Psychological Services.

You will be a clinical or counselling psychologist who is passionate about working with service users with severe and enduring mental health problems, currently in crisis. You will provide clinical input to HTT, providing comprehensive psychological assessments and formulations for our service users to help them more fully understand their difficulties. Additionally, you will provide clinical support and guidance to the multidisciplinary teams, via consultancy, formulation development and sharing, along with staff supervision, training and reflective practice.

You must have completed a British Psychological Society/Health and Care Professions Council accredited postgraduate training in either clinical or counselling psychology.

As an experienced clinical psychologist holding doctoral level professional qualifications, ensures the systematic provision of a highly specialist, multilevel clinical psychology service that is cost-effective, culturally appropriate and based on best clinical and professional practice and that meets Trust and Service Area objectives, national strategic, and policy guidelines, commissioner requirements and user and carer needs and expectations. To thereby help understand, prevent and ameliorate psychological distress and disorder and improve the mental health and well being of local service users.

We are looking for a qualified mental health nurse for the role of staff nurse on our inpatient AOT female ward, Japonica Suite.

Candidates must be able to work as part of a 24/7 rota which will include night working. There are opportunities for those who would like to work predominantly nights to be accommodated in our area.

Japonica offers 24/7 nursing care for females with complex, severe and enduring mental health conditions. We provide inpatient care for female AOT patients as well as acute patients who fall under the care of local CMHTs. This provides a unique opportunity to gain a wide range of skills and experience required to work with such a diverse client group. You will be supported by a comprehensive team of professionals from a variety of backgrounds and have opportunities to develop a broad spectrum of clinical skills through additional training and ongoing supervision tailored to your individual strengths.

We support our service users using a range of therapeutic skills and interventions including, nursing care, collaborative care planning and discharge planning, goal setting and psychosocial interventions. We work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, within the hospital and into the community consisting of; consultant psychiatrists, medics, occupational therapists, dieticians, activity workers, psychologists, physical therapists, house keepers and domestic staff to provide a high quality and caring service.

We will offer you regular management supervision to develop your skills and abilities and support you in your role as staff nurse. You will be encouraged to develop your own interests and specialisms and to support us in the continuous improvement of our service. You will be able to seek additional training opportunities to support your role on the ward. We offer monthly team supervision to develop our practice and interventions as a team, as well as regular team meetings and debriefs.

A Vacancy at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.


The purpose of the role is to provide onsite support and leadership. The co-coordinator will support staff to manage acute inpatient wards in Central and North locality. This will ensure proactive management and allocation of the staffing resource, ensuring clinical demands are effectively prioritised and managed, to ensure that staff working on the wards have accessibility to a clinician who will provide clinical leadership and support staff with complex decision making and managing complex situations.

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical prioritisation, management, and resource allocation of acute inpatient wards across a designated area of Acute inpatients out of hours to ensure effective clinical management and risk minimisation during non-core hours.

Hertford House is a 10 bedded male Community Rehabilitation unit, based in Olton, Solihull.
