We are looking to appoint a Respiratory Physiologist on a permanent basis to provide a high quality, patient focused, efficient Respiratory service, and assist with the development of the sleep service within Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. In addition to supporting the acute sites, the Cardiorespiratory Department will be providing some services at the CDC, Broad Street, Halifax, and at the Huddersfield University Site, Huddersfield. This post will assist in supporting all these sites.

The successful applicant will assist with the operational and clinical management of the respiratory service and sleep service (which is in development) under the supervision of the Clinical Physiologist Service Lead for Respiratory. The post-holder will need to demonstrate a history of training staff and be committed to providing a high-quality service and developing services. We are also involved in the development of a Community Diagnostic Centre in Halifax and Huddersfield (in 2025) where lung function testing will be provided as part of a breathlessness pathway.

The successful applicant should posses a BSc in Clinical Physiology/Science with post qualification experience working at Band 6 Specialist Physiologist level.



The Highly Specialised Respiratory and Sleep Physiologist works under the general supervision of the Clinical Physiologist Service Lead for Respiratory for Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of a wide range of respiratory, sleep and ventilation disorders including outpatient respiratory and sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education.

Main duties include:
• To support the Clinical Physiologist Service Lead in Respiratory in delivery of the Respiratory diagnostic services by facilitating, devising, and delivering systems to ensure compliance with safe working practices within Respiratory Physiology.
• To assist the Clinical Physiologist Service Lead in Respiratory and Highly Specilaised Physiologists to develop a sleep service
• Responsible for the day to day organization, and management of the departmental Respiratory Physiology Service, including the delegation of duties to other members of staff, supervision and ensuring effective time management.
• To promote CPD and safe evidence-based practice.
• To ensure that the service is compliant to national standards.
• To act independently as a Highly Specialist Respiratory Physiologist, maintaining their CPD, performing a full range of routine and specialised respiratory and sleep investigations including routine and complex procedures, in a variety of clinical settings and interpret results.

We are excited to be involved in the development of the Virtual Ward programme, which aims to care for patients safely at the place they call home. In line with National NHSE ambitions we are rolling out our virtual ward model.

We are seeking a motivated and innovative pharmacy technician with a strong background across multiple specialties to join our team at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust to work in the virtual ward clinical pharmacy service as part of the wider MDT.

In addition to excellent communication and leadership skills, you will have previous experience of working within a clinical environment. You will need to be comfortable collaborating with clinicians, managers, nurses and others to ensure that pharmaceutical care of virtual ward patients with a range of clinical conditions is safe and optimised. You will be registered as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council, a Foundation degree in Medicines Management & Pharmacy services or equivalent would be advantageous

Virtual wards allow patients to receive the care they need at home safely and conveniently rather than being in hospital, using technology & digital platforms for us to monitor our patients across a range of clinical specialities.

The postholder will be part of the Community Healthcare Division clinical pharmacy service available to patients across the Calderdale and Huddersfield Foundation Trust (CHFT) footprint in their own homes in the Calderdale area. This may be as part of the CHFT Virtual Ward (VW) /Urgent Community Response Team (UCR) or the wider Community Healthcare Division.

This will require enthusiasm, self-motivation and commitment to forge excellent communication between primary and secondary care teams and drive the pharmacy team forward. The post holder will work with other health and social care organisations across Calderdale to implement and co-ordinate medicines optimisation principles to support patients in the safe and effective use of medicines in their own homes.

To work independently and without direct supervision across the CHFT footprint ensuring adherence to Medicines Optimisation protocols and guidance this will include domiciliary visits.

• To propose and implement policy or service changes that impact within and beyond the post holder’s own role, including work within GP practices, community pharmacies and by community nurses. This includes the development of prescribing / medicines optimisation guidelines and protocols;

Typical day as our Asbestos Manager

• Lead on managing asbestos across sites in your region, ensuring every home meets safety and legal requirements.


• Oversee asbestos audits, inspections, and remediation projects, working closely with contractors to deliver high-quality work.


• Keep our asbestos register accurate and up-to-date, ensuring all information complies with legal standards.


• Deliver an annual programme of re-inspections, surveying asbestos conditions in communal areas and buildings.


• Manage site-specific surveys, risk assessments, and investigations, driving safe outcomes and improvements.


• Collaborate with your counterpart in the other region, contractors, and teams to maintain asbestos management at the highest level.

You bring

• Extensive experience managing asbestos, with qualifications like BOHS P402 and P405 and knowledge of CAR2012. And P403 and P404 (or equivalent) desirably.


• Strong understanding of Health and Safety legislation, and experience applying it in construction and maintenance settings.


• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to work effectively with colleagues, contractors, and customers across your region.


• Experience in asbestos auditing, surveying, and writing detailed scoping documents.


• Ability to interpret complex data, and present it clearly through reports, presentations, or action plans.


• A proactive approach to turning ideas into actions, with a focus on continuous improvement and service innovation.

Calderdale Royal Hospital is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic person to work full time giving assistance to the scientific & technical staff in the cellular pathology department.

The cellular pathology laboratory prepares samples for histology, non-gynae cytology, and andrology. We also have a mortuary facility at Calderdale and Huddersfield.

The work involves specimen reception, computer entry, and general assistance with routine technical duties throughout the department including the mortuary.

The successful applicant will preferably have an understanding of cellular pathology, basic IT knowledge and experience of work in a pathology department.

There will be a requirement to cross site to Huddersfield.

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated speech and language therapist to work collaboratively with the stroke MDT, whilst maintaining close links with the speech and language therapy team.

This is an exciting time within stroke services, where we have secured additional workforce for speech and language therapy so are seeking the right person to lead and develop this team. The Stroke wards are based at Calderdale Royal Hospital in Halifax. We currently provide a 5 day service.

The speech therapy service provides video fluoroscopy in a weekly clinic, as well as an emerging FEES (fibreoptic endoscopic evaluation) service. Training in these areas will be provided to the right candidate.

You will be offered opportunities to further develop your own leadership, management, and clinical skills. This will be supported by our professional lead SALT, our AHP clinical educators as well as your fellow clinical leads within speech and language therapy. We are passionate about supporting AHP roles and have exciting new developments that you can access, such as the AHP research specialist interest group.

• To manage the stroke caseload and appropriately delegate work to others within the MDT to deliver the service required.

• To perform specialist assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex conditions.

• To implement, evaluate and modify individualised care and interventions.

• To be involved in best interest and mental capacity assessments as required.

• To lead development and implement evidence-based protocols and standards of care.

• To provide support and supervision to others including student(s) on clinical placement.

• Have highly specialist assessment and treatment skills within the specialist area.

• Apply evidence-based knowledge within the clinical area.

• Act as a resource and provide advice for Speech & Language Therapists, other professionals and colleagues within the MDT about the assessment, treatment, management and care of patients.

• Work collaboratively with health and social care, community, and acute colleagues. Maintain good working relationships with our community Stroke ESD partners.

• Take a lead, and work with other members of the MDT to ensure effective care pathways and transfer of care / discharges.

• Proactively and appropriately facilitate a seamless transfer of care and continuing therapeutic management of stroke patients between care settings.

• Work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary manner within the MDT, being able to debate the blurring of boundaries across professions and where competent take on aspects of blurred boundary working.

• Develop highly specialist programmes of assessment, treatment and intervention for stroke patients with communication and/or swallowing deficits.

• Manage and prioritise own clinical workload as appropriate, working efficiently to manage professional time and delegate according to the training and competency levels of other team members to ensure the effective delivery of the service.

• Participate in the supervision process with staff on a daily basis and for students as required.

• Ensure a high standard of patient care is provided including implementing and reviewing clinical standards relevant to the work undertaken.
