Our client is the largest luxury retail brand in the world in its category.

Based in Singapore, the Brand Controller, South Asia and Australia oversees the financial monitoring of South Asia business performance of two to three brands with key focus on the annual budget, rolling forecasts, latest estimates and actual reporting, strategic plans, financial KPIs, office & facilities investment requests, balance sheet and cashflow management.

This position reports to the Head of FP&A, South Asia. The position is a member of the FP&A community of APAC and South Asia driving FP&A initiatives, promoting best practices, and elevating professional competency of the Finance function. The position has no direct report.

Key Responsibilities

• Safeguard the assets and resources of the Group by maintaining the independent view of Finance in business decisions

• Support - Support senior investment banking colleagues and directing and training analyst teammates

• Relationship Building –  Grow your internal and external networks  coordinating client-focused and/or deal-focused “brainstorming” sessions with relevant team members and product specialists. Developing relationships and actively communicating with various appropriate contacts at our clients. Developing and maintaining an internal network with product groups and other business groups. Developing and maintaining an external network with the market (i.e. key stakeholders, clients, prospects, etc.). Liaising with other units of CIBC Capital Markets in preparing proposals for clients

• Culture - Supporting CIBC’s “Culture of Care” through involvement in community activities

• Mentoring - Actively managing and mentoring the Analysts that work with you and providing regular feedback to them 

Who you are

• You are success-oriented. Extremely dedicated and motivated individual with high career aspirations. Must be capable of assuming high levels of responsibility within short time frames. Success to you is helping solve and execute on the complex financial and strategic needs of our clients

• You have an undergraduate degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, engineering, computer science or economics. Completion of a CA, CFA, MBA or Masters in Finance is an asset

• You can demonstrate relevant industry experience. A minimum of 2 years of previous experience in one or more of investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, project financing, tax equity, or investment review.  Experience must have included meaningful financial modeling and analysis. Direct work experience in the mining industry is an asset

• You have relevant financial skills. Excellent analytical ability including demonstrated knowledge of valuation techniques and practices, including cash flow and returns analyses. Knowledge of accounting principles relating to financial statement preparation and business combinations

• You possess technical skills (Programs, Methodologies, Systems). Strong quantitative technical skills as it relates to basic computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), industry technology (FactSet, Bloomberg) and other applicable software

• You are motivated by collective success Well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills in order to develop, manage and leverage relationships with clients, and internal and/or external business partners. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills sufficient to provide detailed explanation and interpretation of factual and conceptual information and ideas related to complex technical and conceptual issues. Unquestioned professionalism, ethics and reputation and proven ability to exercise strong independent judgment when making business decisions and/or representing CIBC Capital Markets
