Procurement Category Manager - Marketing
£46,400 - £54,500 plus great benefits (Work Level 5)

We're looking for a Procurement Category Manager to join us at Co-op and drive our procurement strategy within Marketing. Our team looks after everything from media and creative agencies through to print and store consumables, so you can be sure there's a lot of variety. You'll play a key part in supporting our strategic activity, making sure we get the best value for money, so we can give the best experience to our members, customers, and colleagues.
In this role, you'll focus on driving great value by building positive relationships with our internal and external partners. Your role will focus on our spend on key services such as print management, community agencies and instore partnerships. What you'll do
- Lead interesting and high-profile sourcing projects across print and other categories, working with business leaders and colleagues to shape strategy
- Take end-to-end ownership of your categories, gaining an in-depth understanding of business needs
- Build strong relationships with our internal colleagues and external suppliers
- Create and deliver your category plan, partnering with our senior business leaders to provide knowledge and expertise across the category spend
- Lead our sourcing activity, negotiating contracts, maximising value, and minimising risk
- Support the delivery of transformation projects, offering advice and challenging costs and budgets
- Implement sourcing strategies, such as tendering, analysis and selection, whilst using negotiation techniques to deliver new cost savings
- Work closely with our legal teams to make sure our contracts are effective
This role would suit people who have
- Procurement category management experience
- Great attention to detail and the ability to analyse and interpret data
- The ability to work at pace, manage multiple projects, and be comfortable working in an agile environment where business needs are constantly evolving
- Strong contract/statement of work drafting capability
- Great communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge senior colleagues
- Experience of complex negotiation and sound commercial thinking ability
