The role of Materials Testing Technician will report directly to the Technical Manager working on the testing of Readymix and developing products. The role is both site and Laboratory based as you will be required go out on to the sites to obtain samples which is an essential aspect of the job.

You will be responsible for; not exhaustive:

• Possess good communications skills and will be able to liaise with stakeholders of varying seniority levels
• You will be required to have an understanding of civil engineering materials, materials testing and site construction operations
• You will work closely with the Technical Manager, Materials Technicians and the onsite teams to gain knowledge across a wide range of subjects
• Work with the Technical Manager for site testing, checking results, carrying out preliminary investigations into complaints, and providing technical information to clients
• Organise and undertake technical testing to ensure test regimes and workload are met, comply with Company systems
• Support the investigation; and resolve quality issues, advise operations and Site Teams of results and potentially suggest actions for improvement
• Test procedures – To ensure testing procedures are fully documented, understood and communicated to comply with company standards
• Sampling & Testing – To carry out sampling and testing in line with contract requirements utilising in-house company Schedule and external 3rd party accredited test houses where required
• Advise Technical Manager and Operational staff when quality standards are being compromised and take appropriate action to rectify quality issues
• Ensure your work is carried out in line with company procedures and in a safe manner whilst maintaining a safe and accredited testing environment and have the correct equipment available in calibration
• Have knowledge of on-site Health and Safety policies and procedures

ESSENTIAL - Full UK car driving licence with no more than 6 points as you will have a company vehicle for this role to visit sites – business use only

The successful applicant in the role of Materials Testing Technician will be instrumental in the future development and support our Highways, Readymix and Technical Teams.

Materials Testing Technician - Qualifications/Requirements/Capabilities:

• It is preferred that applicants have five GCSEs (A*C / 9-5) including English, Maths and Science
• NVQ – level 3 – Technician or similar relevant in-house certification would be beneficial but is not essential
• Working knowledge of Readymix products would be highly beneficial
• Knowledge of testing schedule maintenance
• Experience of how to meet sampling frequencies, reporting of results
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant Standards and their application i.e. MCHW, BS.
• Ability to maintain electronic records to efficiently demonstrate conformity and provide supporting data

You will work as part of a Multi-Skilled Operative team which lays coated materials in the construction industry. As well as delivering best in class Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality performance, your role as Multi Skilled Road Surfacing Operative will include:

• Operating various items of plant associated with road surfacing (paver, rollers, tractor or chipper etc)

• Working with hot coated materials on site and operating plant as per the role of Multi Skilled Road Surfacing Operative

• Laying coated materials in accordance with the specification and to BS tolerances.

• Day to day maintenance of plant, maintaining the highest levels of housekeeping

The ideal candidate for the role of Multi Skilled Road Surfacing Operative will be able to demonstrate proven experience of working within the road surfacing industry and have experience of working on highways including motorways, airfields and A roads laying coated materials. You will also:

• Have obtained a CSCS card (preferred)

• Have experience in asphalts and road laying

• Have experience of operating road surfacing machinery/equipment and have the relevant plant tickets

• Ideally be experienced in project work – ideally on motorways

• Be able to work independently but also as part of a team

• Be a good communicator

• Be motivated

• Hold a valid UK driving licence

• Be flexible in their working approach

• Adhere to company Health and Safety policies and procedures

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Highways Operative will carry out operational duties as part of the provision of a quality highways and street lighting operational service. You will undertake installation, maintenance and routine work for a full range of highway apparatus and assets.

The ideal candidate will be a Highways Operative who has previous experience in the following:

• Previous experience of civils works, operating machinery and working on the highway
• A full understanding of utility drawings and the dangers of damaging underground and overhead services
• Experience of being an HGV Class 2 driver and NPORS or City and Guilds qualifications in gritter and snowplough for winter maintenance operations, or a willingness and commitment to train for this
• Willingness and commitment to work out of normal working hours as part of a rota system in all seasons
• Prior experience as a Plant Operator or a willingness and commitment to train for this role as required

The role is responsible for ensuring effective delivery of relevant application services by leveraging specialist knowledge. It is also responsible for translating business requirements into functional specifications and effective, efficient and compliant business solutions.

You'll work on business change projects, but also deliver smaller change packages via the enhancement process and provide specialist application and solution support for specific elements of the applications estate.

In this role you'll:

• Work as a Subject Matter Expert for logistics applications & functional scope on business projects in line with business strategy
