This role provides an exciting opportunity to lead a team managing business critical, high-risk contracts that require the most significant oversight and senior staff engagement.


As the post holder you will immediately gain a substantial insight into military training and understanding how the contract supports training. The post holder will be expected to:

Maintain the Unit’s Vetting Register, ensuring accurate clearance recorded for all Military, MOD Civil Service, Deployed Service Personnel, Contractors and visitors.

Initiating timely clearance reviews for Service Personnel to ensure correct and continuous clearance is held for each post.

Liaising with Army PersSyA, Navy PSyA, Air-Ops PSyA and DBS Civilian HR to request priority or hasten clearance applications, and refer any vetting issues or queries for Unit and Deployed Personnel.

Ensure all personnel complete the annual Security Appraisal Form.

The post is in Bovington Camp, home of the Armour Centre (ARMCEN) and is a British Army base located in Dorset which, together with Lulworth Camp, forms the Bovington Garrison. ARMCEN has been the home of the British Army’s tank training since 1916. The camp is a matter of miles from the south coast and is part of the world heritage site that is The Jurassic Coast. The Garrison consists of three barrack complexes and two forest/heathland training areas that support the delivery of Initial Trade Training (ITT) for soldiers of the Royal Armoured Corps, the Royal Engineers and the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers as well as Subsequent Trade Training (STT) for many other Defence units. It is also home to the British Army’s Trials Unit and the Royal Marine Armour Support Group.

The ARMCEN Support Unit is responsible for enabling the life support functions of the permanent staff, students and military families based at the Garrison. The Team Leader is responsible for managing the outputs of the team, with a particular responsibility for Welfare, SHEF, Force Health Protection, Security, Physical Development and Garrison Admin. The Support Unit is essential to the effective daily running of the Garrison – without it, the training and Garrison outputs would be impossible to deliver. Duties to be split between two positions -

Point of contact for all students and visitors to the Learning & Development (L&D) (Southwick Park). Provide assistance and support to all trainers and students as and when required.
Responsible for processing/arranging travel and accommodation requests for recruits and where required for staff.
Holder of an electronic purchasing card (EPC) to process requisitions of stationary, equipment and publications or via the Contracting, Purchasing & Finance (CP&F) system, maintaining a full audit trail. Maintain work service database report all faults and act as point of contact for contractors for maintenance and repairs within L&D (SP) including all electrical equipment and photocopiers. Act as L&D (SP) fire warden, duties include daily health and safety checks of the training centre, monitoring of firefighting equipment and emergency exits. Monthly check first aid boxes to ensure they are fully stocked.

We currently have an exciting vacancy for the Head of Dissemination Team. This role leads a centralised team who deliver a range of products to the organisation, and manages the Dissemination Process within NCGI, DI and wider afield.

You will also advise on and test the efficacy of measures to build security into continuous integration and deployment with specific responsibilities for the day to day IT security for multiple Military and Civilian HR systems and Finance systems.

The role will require you to demonstrate a talent for solving complex problems and for effective communication at all levels. The Enterprise Data Architecture Team has primary responsibility for ensuring the best use of data across the Department, supporting and overseeing the work of data architects across the Ministry of Defence’s complex business landscape. As a Cyber Security Risk Assessor within the CySAAS team, you will lead a team providing timely, impartial and consistent assurance, assessment and advisory services across Defence.

Senior personnel will rely on your expertise to ensure they have an accurate understanding of through-life cyber security risks, so they can make informed business decisions. You will work with projects that involve complex technical and security challenges, which may include highly sensitive networks, cryptography and next-generation military vehicles and weapons systems.

Along the way, you will strengthen links with other cyber security bodies and business functions - from business delivery partners who provide project-based assurance activities, to industry trade bodies and organisations which deliver Information Technology (IT).

As an experienced cyber security leader, you will bring to the role a proven ability to communicate at all levels of a diverse organisation. As thought leadership will be a key aspect of the role, you will need to demonstrate a talent for solving complex problems through innovation. You will have the ability to advise on complex risk balance decisions; to explain cyber security policy, governance and technology to non-experts; and to lead a diverse team of skilled cyber security professionals. Provision of timely, impartial and consistent assurance, assessment and advisory services across Defence, to ensure that senior leaders have an accurate understanding of through-life cyber risks and can make informed business decisions.
Leadership of cyber security assessment personnel. This may include management of Assessors to ensure:
Strategic direction for MOD cyber security assurance is on track.
Functional mentoring and professional training and development are achieved.
Assurance related management information is accurate and up to date.
Workloads are balanced efficiently.
Ensuring assurance activities are completed in accordance with Government policy, including escalating risks, explained in business terms, to aid the Senior Leader’s decision-making process.
Strengthening links with internal and external stakeholders in other cyber security bodies and business functions across Defence, including Defence Intelligence, Defensive Cyber Operations, Principal Security Advisors, industry trade bodies and liaising with other Government Authorities as appropriate; building relationships through encouraging CySAAS attendance at appropriate events.
Work to develop a pan-Defence culture which values and protects data appropriately. Lead transformation programmes, within your area of responsibility.
Taking appropriate action as required in response to issues/events e.g., tiger teaming, deep dives.

As an Administration Officer in the MOD supporting the Army, your main responsibilities will vary from post to post but will include:

Engaging with a wide range of military and civilian stakeholders in an appropriate manner, including managing email correspondence.
Communicating with colleagues/contractors/customers and others.
Providing routine advice and guidance on matters related to your area of work.
Use of bespoke IT systems (full training would be provided)
Electronic file management and records maintenance, including data entry and data consolidation, ensuring all documentation is stored in the correct way, with the correct classification.
Use of Microsoft Office 365 programmes (full training will be given)
Other routine administrative tasks.

As part of the role, you will read and identify initial lines of enquiry in line with the Senior Investigating Officer’s (SIO) policy. You will assess all material entering the MIR identifying urgent action and making decisions on fast-track material. With proven investigative background/experience of major crime investigations, you will have completed or be willing to complete a HOLMES course and have relevant knowledge of evidence handling and disclosure processes. A confident and proficient user of IT, you will be able to analyse large amounts of information and prioritise amongst contending demands.

You will be required to travel in support of the operational output of the unit, undertaking training and attending meetings, outside your usual place of work.

Other responsibilities include:

Receive actions and documents from enquiry officers to ensure all documentation entering the MIR is processed in line with relevant policy and legislation.
Work closely with the Office Manager and Action Manager, where vital prioritising the way documentation is handled, and provide them with the most up to date information about the state of the enquiry.
Assess documents for security levels, priorities and Government Security Classifications (GSC) in order to decide whether fast-track actions should be raised and to ensure the appropriate GSC marking.
Receive and assess actions, including those requiring urgent attention and those as defined by the policy of the Senior Investigative Officer (SIO), and ensure all relevant processes and procedures are adhered to.
Read and assess documents in order to mark-up content for indexing and to indicate appropriate index records or documentary associations.
Forward all marked up documents to the index section, ensuring that their status has been up-dated, to maintain accurate records.
Provide explicit instructions to raise and assess the priority of an appropriate action in order to support lines of enquiry.
Record a summary of the document to support list management, file preparation and disclosure.
