The Finance Manager is a key position responsible for overseeing, managing, and analysing the financial records and operations of the Company. This role plays a critical role in ensuring financial sustainability and growth through data integrity and prudent information to guide data drive decisions all while adhering to relevant laws, regulations & best practices for the Company, and the Childcare industry.
Maintaining and managing our financial records and reporting requirements includes due diligence, statutory reporting, internal and external audit management, overseeing and advising on purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. Additionally, they will handle the company's accounting and payroll system, ensuring all services and employees are paid accurately and timely in conjunction with Company book keeping services.
MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Planning and Analysis:
• Develop and implement financial strategies and plans to support the organization's objectives.
• Conduct financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
• Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports on key financial indicators, highlighting areas of concern and proposing corrective actions.
Financial Management:
• Manage day-to-day, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and cash flow management.
• Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain financial records and ensure proper documentation and filing systems are in place.
• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks.
Financial Reporting and Compliance:
• Prepare and present financial reports to the management team and board of directors.
• Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with financial and tax regulations.
• Stay updated on relevant accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices and ensure their implementation.
Strategic Financial Planning:
• Contribute to the development and execution of the organisation's strategic plans and initiatives.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support decision-making on new business opportunities, investments, partnerships, and Employee remuneration strategies or plan (fixed or variable income, superannuation), and taxation.
• Evaluate the financial viability and impact of proposed projects, acquisitions, or expansions.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Proven experience (7+ years) in financial and accounting management, and preferably within the childcare or education sector.
• In-depth knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations, including accounting standards (e.g., IFRS) and taxation laws.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
• Strong knowledge of financial software and systems (e.g., ERP, Excel, financial reporting tools).
• Experience in managing audits and liaising with external stakeholders, such as auditors and regulatory bodies.
• Previous experience in strategic financial planning and business partnering will be an advantage.
• Commercial experience in a company during growth business stage
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, and With Distinction (highly desirable)
• Master's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
• Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) will be advantageous
• Knowledge of Australian financial and regulatory frameworks, including taxation laws specific to private companies and the childcare industry.
• Familiarity with government funding programs and grants applicable to childcare services in Australia.
