• The duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Apply economic theories to describe the economic impact of decisions related to the regulation of organic farms, businesses, and certifiers.
• Devise solutions that require originality and creativity in the development of models, methodologies, or the extension of existing theory to new and unusual applications.
• Build cost-benefit models to support rule development and alternative analyses and conduct regulatory impact analyses and regulatory flexibility analyses for the purposes of rulemaking.
• Draft proposed regulations based on the economic analyses.
• Maintain current knowledge of the structure, trade practices, performance, and marketing conditions of the organic industry.
• Access available agricultural databases and data resources that provide production and pricing information relevant to rulemaking topics.
• Contribute written content for briefing materials and oral presentations to explain policy considerations and options to senior USDA officials and external audiences.
• Explain the economic impacts of new regulations to organic farms and businesses, National and State association officials, advocacy group representatives, and organic certifiers.

As a Supervisory Loan Specialist at the GS-1165-13, some of your typical work assignments may include:

• Monitors the quality of all loan processing work, including risk review, within the unit for adherence to laws, regulations and established procedures and standards.

• Providing expert advice, consultation, and assistance to the Administrator on high priority agency-wide policy matters relating to business operations in the areas of budget, contracts, facilities, resource management/appropriations, human resources, congress, public affairs, and information technology.
• Assessing the effectiveness of program and policy oversight, taking corrective action ensuring consistency with the DEA's goals, objectives and policies.
