We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Senior Quality Assurance Officer, Band 6 at Pharmacy Technical Services within the Quality team based at Royal London Hospital Pharmacy and Pathology Building (but will be required to travel to all sites within Barts Health NHS Trust).

The aim of this post is to provide patients with outstanding services from the Pharmacy Technical Services MS licenced units ASU (Aseptic Services Unit), Chemoteraphy Services Unit (CSU), Packagin Services Unit (PSU) and Quality support to Radiopharmacy and Nuclear medicine unit (RPU). The post holder will provide professional and technical supervision to the GMP manufacturing units, working with other department in these units to ensure all activities comply with current clinical, GMP, GCP and Quality guidelines


The post holder will work within the Quality Assurance team, focusing (but not limited to) on elements of the QMS (including the documentation system), as well as Micro and QC support such as environmental monitoring, laboratory practices and testing, and releasing of products manufactured under the MS licence, whenever required.

The post holder will be given training to become competent and will undertake developmental activities to enable them to gain skills, knowledge, and experience in a wide variety of Quality, Aseptic and Clinical Pharmacy activities.

Quality, Compliance and Patient Safety Analyst

We are looking for a band 7 Quality, Compliance and Patient Safety Analyst to join our team. This post will sit within the Trust patient safety team within the Quality Governance department. The team is part of the corporate team of the Trust with a main aim of coordinating functions that relate to quality governance and patient safety.

This is a new role within one of the largest acute care provider organisations in the NHS. The Quality, Compliance and Patient Safety Analyst role will support the Patient Safety Learning Response Lead to provide Trust-wide oversight of all types of patient safety themes as part of the Trust’s annually agreed Patient Safety Incident Response Plan (PSIRP). The successful candidate will contribute to the development of systems and processes related to patient safety. To analyse and disseminate patient safety data and other clinical indicators to demonstrate status and project delivery. The post holder will also work closely with the Risk System Coordinator to provide system support to ensure the effective design and operation of the Risk Management Database (Datix) - addressing problems, troubleshooting any technical issues



The key purpose of this role will include but not limited to:

• Find innovative ways of supporting the organisation to learn from incidents and other safety related intelligence

• Development and delivery of training relating to patient safety and compliance

• Reviewing all safety information to gain better understanding of safety of patient care within the Trust to drive improvements

• Expertise in using Datix and work in conjunction with the Risk System Coordinator to support hospitals for queries and troubleshooting

Senior Specialist Biomedical Scientist – Blood Transfusion Quality Officer

An exciting opportunity has come up within the East and South East London (ESEL) Pathology Network, for an enthusiastic Quality Lead who shares our vision of a high-quality transfusion service and invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced Band 7 Biomedical Scientists, or a Band 6 already with experience of fulfilling a Quality Lead role and is keen to move their career in that direction.

The successful candidate for the role of Quality Lead must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to organise and motivate staff. They will be responsible for the implementation, development, and management of the quality management system for the Blood Transfusion departments within ESEL as part of a team of 3 Blood Transfusion Quality Leads.



We are looking a candidate with extensive knowledge and experience of working within a Pathology laboratory. Previous experience of method or equipment validation/verification, familiarity with the requirements of ISO15189 and working within the regulatory requirements of Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is essential. The successful candidate will possess the investigative and presentation skills required to lead on all aspects of quality assurance, both internal and external, across the Blood Transfusion service, with the aim of maintaining standards for UKAS accreditation and other appropriate accreditation and regulatory requirements e.g., Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

The post-holder will be required to manage the day to day running of the quality management system within Blood Transfusion and be familiar with risk management processes, incident investigation and management processes, performing trending analysis and producing regular performance and compliance reports for Blood Transfusion, Pathology and service meetings.



The successful candidate will be provided post related training, and support for the identification and trending of errors and adverse events, implementing effective corrective and preventative actions to improve safety and quality.

The role supports the business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning, commissioning and service. The role is designed to build a combination of subject matter expertise and technical skills to develop a strong service delivery.

You will be coordinating with a variety of commercial workstream leaders and stakeholders, to operate and develop commercial governance policies to ensure NHP delivers the Government’s Health Infrastructure Plan commitments.

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective commercial environment supporting managers and staff across NHP Commercial Function (and where necessary the Programme) to ensure the effective commercial governance, assurance and audit compliance.

The scope of this role includes but not limited to:
• Establishing and maintaining necessary NHP commercial and governance forums - Commercial Committee and Commercial Steering Group, Conflict of Interest Panel, etc.
• Ensure programme spend is compliant with the NHS England, Department for Health and Social Care, Cabinet Office, and other spend controls.
• Ensure assurance and audit outcomes are appropriately recorded to allow for third party audits.
• Production of commercial collateral for assurance and audit meetings
• Creating spreadsheets, word sheets and presentations.
• Dealing with email enquiries, responses on commercial Freedom of Information requests.
• Ensure that Programme and external governance stakeholders are engaged in a way that fosters trust.
• Create culture of empowered, collaborative, helpful, ambitious, proactive and content people.

Salary Progression

Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 8d with a full-time starting salary of £83,571 with a pay step increase after 5 years’ service.

For posts based in Inner London, the above salaries will include the additional supplement of 20% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £4,608 per annum and a maximum payment of £7,097 per annum.

This is offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and is based on office location.
