You will support the Media department to deliver the practical elements of their GCSE, A Level and BTEC courses. Media Studies is an incredibly popular subject and also provides our students with many opportunities to use their practical skills in whole School events such as our highly successful MUN Conference and Royal Russell Day where our Media students create content and live broadcast the event . As our Media Technician, you will assist students to produce their own media texts for their extra-curricular Media projects and supervise their use of the Media Studio and Apple Mac edit suites.
You should ideally have experience in a studio environment and have the ability to use Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Photoshop to effectively edit moving image and photography. You would have the desire to work on live events as the team provide professional support to many School-run events throughout the year. You should have high levels of computer literacy, good organisational skills and be equally happy working unsupervised as well as part of a team to a high standard. This is a full-time, term-time position with the requirement to work for an additional 5 days during School holidays to support Media events. Your normal working hours of 37.5 per week (7.5 a day) will be by negotiation depending on the needs of the department’s timetable. On occasion some flexibility will be required.

The successful candidate will be providing specialist support for visually and/or hearing impaired students and will therefore need to be qualified in British Sign Language (BSL) and braille/VI trained. This role will allow time for planning and resourcing.Please note that in the event of specialist communication support not being required during the academic year, the successful candidate will be expected to undertake duties similar or the same as those required of a Learning Support Assistant.The College provides specialist education and support for 200+ young people aged 16-25 with moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities. Working with students you will form a key part of the range of services to support their education, emotional well-being and preparation for adulthood.

Your opportunity:

Deliver practical design support for LMT, teaching and associate staff for key publications such as brochures, programmes, leaflets, booklets, and signage etc.
Provide technical support including the making of photo montages and videos for key events and ensure that the archive of photographs of teaching and learning and key events is constantly updated and then used to enhance the school’s displays and working environment.
Provide reprographics support to ensure the efficient and timely production of large-scale photocopying.
The working hours for this role are 30 hours per week, although we welcome discussions around a flexible working pattern, depending on individual circumstances. The role is school-based, working term time only.
