Department Overview
The Internal Audit department is a key part of the Nomura’s corporate governance structure – the “third line of defence” – and the department’s overarching objective is to provide independent assurance to senior management and the relevant audit committees as to the robustness of the company's control environment, and to identify and report any weaknesses. The Asia ex-Japan (AEJ) Internal Audit team comprises 30 permanent headcount of which six are located in Hong Kong, 22 in Singapore, one in Korea and one in Powai, covering all Nomura’s businesses in the region.

Role Overview
Reporting to the AEJ Regional Portfolio Director for Chief Information Office (CIO) Internal Audit, this role is responsible for leading and participating in risk-based regional and global audits of the CIO division. The experience auditor will cover business elements of CIO including Investment Banking Operations (Shared Services, Client Services Group), and other corporate functions such as Data Management, Vendor Management, Human Resource and Corporate Communications.
This role involves other Internal Audit activities including risk assessment, issue remediation validation, continuous monitoring and auditing and contributing towards strategic and innovative changes to improve audit effectiveness. The candidate will work closely with multiple members of the Internal Audit team in the region, and other regions.
The primary focus of the role is Investment Banking Operations, although the role also offers the possibility to cover other businesses.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a Regional Portfolio Director, take lead in planning and executing audits, including taking responsibility for specific aspects of the audit work, and working closely with specialist auditors in Technology, Risk and Compliance where necessary.
• Perform risk assessments of Nomura’s Operations and corporate functions business and assist in developing the annual audit plan.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of audit experience in a major financial institution, Big 4 firm or consulting firm.
• At least 5 years of internal audit experience in the financial services sector, preferably within investment banking.
• Strong audit skills and good knowledge or relevant audit background in Investment Banking business and products.
• Strong project management and relationship building
• Ability to work independently and pro-actively, multi-task, and demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and commitment to delivery.
• Strong oral and written communication skills in English, and have the confidence to deliver tough messages and have difficult conversations.

Job Description

• Assisting the delivery and reporting of the results of operational internal audits in areas including finance processes, operational processes, and compliance reviews.
• Proactively following up the implementation of agreed actions and ongoing improvement of the control environment under the direction and regular supervision of line manager.
• Maintain and update the Risk Management Guide and the corporate risk register, with input from local risk registers. Responsibilities:

The Internal Audit Associate/Assistant Vice President will be involved in all core activities undertaken by BXIA including annual risk assessment, assurance and advisory activities, including audit planning and execution, and contributing to department wide strategic initiatives. BXIA’s remit spans across all areas of the Firm, including the business strategy teams responsible for investment and asset management, and corporate functions such as Human Resources and Compliance. In APAC, BXIA provides coverage of key entities in Hong Kong, Singapore, India, China, Japan, Australia, and South Korea.

Specific responsibilities of the role include:

• Perform risk-based audits across Blackstone’s global platform and gain exposure to the firm’s diverse businesses, products, regions, and enterprise functions
• Perform testing, document test results, identify findings as applicable, and work with internal staff to design corrective actions that mitigate risk, drive efficiency and add value
• Leverage industry experience to provide advisory services during the development of new businesses, design of new processes and implementation of systems
• Develop ongoing working relationships within the firm, communicate ways to improve controls and have a strong understanding of new firm wide initiatives in the pipeline
• Assist in the annual risk assessment process and contribute to the formation of the annual audit plan through direct input, insight and perspective around current business, industry and regulatory risk factors
• Aid in the development and management of the international internal audit risk assessment framework, including the ongoing management of risk registers and control libraries
• Participate in firm and industry events that will enhance your skills and expand your knowledge of the alternative asset management industry

• Minimum 6 years of auditing experience in the financial services industry
• Undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting, finance, economics, computer science or business-related field

• Strong project management, organizational and presentation skills
• Excellent communication (verbal, written & listening) and interpersonal skills

• Proficient understanding of current regulatory and industry events
• Experience with internal audit risk assessments, SOX/Internal controls and/or ERP security and control review

• Experience with Governance, Risk & Compliance technology tools (ex. Audit Board) & Tableau

• MBA, CA, CIA, CFA or CISA credentials strongly preferred

SSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To assist with the following duties and responsibilities that generally reflect the expectations of this position, but are not intended to be all-inclusive.

• Support SOX documentation projects as assigned to include ad hoc and recurring detail testing, process narrative updates and/or special projects to be determined

• Perform daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly audits of transactions objectively and productively according to department policies and procedures

• Coordinate and communicate with other SOX teammates in order to ensure the standardization of testing and reporting

• Communicate findings of daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly audits to the SOX team, identifying trends, issues, and education opportunities

• Plan, schedule, and facilitate meetings and teambuilding activities as necessary

• Respond to customer requests and attend customer meetings in a timely manner

• Identify opportunities to improve SOX testing methodologies and processes

• Report workplace injuries to a member of the management team or People Services immediately

• Consistent, regular, punctual attendance as scheduled is an essential responsibility of this position

• Travel required: up to 25%

• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned including but not limited to:

  • Work overtime with little or no notice as needed

  • Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and training as needed: cross train within SOX team

  • Know, understand, and follow teammate guidelines, employment policies, and department or company procedures

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor in Business (Accounting) completed or in progress required

• Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required

• Interest in pursuing a professional certification (CPA/CIA/CFE) preferred

• Prior experience writing reports and correspondence preferred

Salary/ Wage Range
