The Senior Leader for Survey Transformation fosters the expansion of knowledge in state-of-the-art developments in survey design, planning and execution; production of statistics; and/or data science; and collaborates with experts in these fields in the federal government, academia, and the private sector. Using this interdisciplinary perspective, the incumbent:

• Proposes updates to survey functions and operations reflecting current and emerging theories and practices as they relate to the design and execution of Bureau surveys and censuses.
• Facilitates collaboration across Directorates to address important technological and methodological problems and builds coalitions among internal and external research partners.
• Identifies initiatives that meet emerging data needs and advises on appropriate strategies to evaluate their effectiveness.
• Advises on application of survey methodology and survey operations to address immediate and longer-term issues with household survey data collection.
• Assists in developing coherent long-term plans for program areas to improve data quality and inform decision making.
• Guides innovations in the incorporation of alternative data sources, including but not limited to administrative records and social media data, to augment and supplement traditional Bureau products.

• Apply statistical techniques and methods in performing project related activities.
• Plan, coordinate, implement, and monitor project/survey activities for large-scale household surveys and/or smaller-scale surveys, including surveys of institutions.

As a Hydrologic Technician within the Maryland, Delaware, and District of Columbia Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

• Collects and analyzes a wide variety of hydrologic data using established methods and procedures.
• Compiles, computes, analyzes, and quality assures hydrologic data using established methods and prepares basic data reports.
• Installs, maintains, services, operates, troubleshoots, and repairs a variety of hydrologic equipment, instrumentation, and gaging stations.
• Gathers, edits, tabulates, and analyzes hydrologic data using several databases and software programs.
• Operating a government-owned vehicle as an incidental driver

Physical Demands: The work regularly requires considerable dexterity, agility, and strenuous physical exertion such as: climbing and/or working from tall ladders and scaffolding; work in areas where footing is treacherous such as slippery or icy river banks, steep rocky terrain, or fast-moving water; lifting heavy objects weighing 23 kilograms (50 pounds) or more, or crouching or crawling in restricted areas.

Work Environment: Office conditions do not require special safety precautions; field conditions may include extreme heat or cold, rain or snow, and hazardous conditions such as ice or flooding, or exposure to irritant or toxic chemicals. Work may require the use of special clothing or gear such as masks, coats, boots, goggles, respirators, or life jackets.

As a Budget Analyst within the Eastern Ecological Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

- Supports the formulation of planning processes and procedures to support the organization's program and budget development activities through generation and data validation.
- Utilizes modern financial and information systems.
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates programs and activities for efficiency, effectiveness, and controls throughout execution phase and fiscal year end.
- Prepare and process reimbursable funding agreements to Federal and non-Federal cooperators. Prepare accurate bills for collection.

As a Budget Analyst within the Eastern Ecological Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

- Supports the formulation of planning processes and procedures to support the organization's program and budget development activities through generation and data validation.

• Convert survey specifications, and field data collection into budgets, estimates, operational and procedural plans, and detailed procedures and instructions.
• Develops procedures to support operations for each survey, field assignments and scheduling supervisory observations.
• Directs the analysis of cost, overall survey workloads, survey budgets and allocations, and established quality standards.

As a Biologist within the Eastern Ecological Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

- Develops interpretable visual/text presentation associated with biological research projects of Center scientists and external partners. Contributes to individual projects applying reproducible workflows and data visualization techniques to capture and communicate complex dataintensive concepts to non-technical audiences using a variety of media (such as print, web, research products).
- Provides biological data management technical support for USGS science efforts within the Center/Office. This may encompass all aspects of the USGS Science Data Lifecycle to: plan, acquire, process, analyze, preserve, curate, publish, share, document, manage quality, and secure/archive data in support of Department of the Interior (DOI), and USGS policies and procedures.
- Works with regional, and national USGS science staff and to provide expertise in the principles, theories, and methods, of biological scientific data management planning, data curation and documentation, publication, and preservation.
- Assist senior staff in preparing scientific products (websites, data releases, maps, graphics, dashboards, and geonarratives, and text) for reports on fish and/or wildlife resources.

Salary: $78,592 (Step 01) to $102,166 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.

• Observe operation of computer system and depth recorder to correct discrepancies.
• Assist with preparing finished maps and charts of the channel and sounding by processing the data to remove noise using computer hardware and software.
