- We are currently working with an international award winning regional DC Operator to look for a HV and Utility Technical Director to join its team in undertaking a broad scope of work across the group. Key Responsibilities:
- Engaging with our clientele to comprehend their MV/HV/Utility requisites and ensuring that our solutions remain highly efficient and forward-looking.
- Collaborating in the creation of connection agreements with the Electrical Supply Authorities.
- Nurturing and sustaining the DC campus infrastructure designs, with a focus on transferring knowledge to novel regions.
- Incorporating emerging technologies aimed at augmenting the utilization of renewable energy and curtailing greenhouse gas emissions, encompassing grid-BESS and solar initiatives.
- This will entail the study and development of these innovative technological solutions in collaboration with our partners, regulators, and clients.
- Coordinating with Electrical Supply Authorities to facilitate the transition and conversion of transmission voltage [11kV to 275kV] to DC campus distribution voltage [33kV to 6.6kV] for capacities exceeding 100MW.
- Collaborating with the Energy & Utility Manager to conduct peer reviews and oversee the standard HV campus design at DC.
- Assisting the Site Selection and Masterplanning Teams in selecting and strategizing for campuses.
- Conducting internal peer reviews of HV designs, proposed equipment, and GC submissions.
- Engaging in the Safety-in-Design lifecycle.
- Ensuring uniformity across all DC APAC campuses.
- Streamlining the integration of grid-connected BESS and other technologies.
- Enhancing the safety of the DC's on-site HV networks to align with or surpass local code requirements and industry best practices.
- Developing and managing HV network designs for both new and existing DC networks, providing advice on primary and secondary distribution, SCADA, earthing, and DC systems.
- Continuously enhancing the existing HV system designs by collaborating with the technology team during the design phases to offer essential HV operational insights.
- Specifying and assessing DC's HV network owner-supplied equipment (OSE) to adhere to all relevant specifications and required standards.
- Engaging in technical negotiations with electrical supply authorities, supporting the Energy Team in contract and tariff negotiations with energy retailers.
- Assisting the Development Team's Utility Power Engineer by providing technical support during construction work and collaborating with the Operation Team's Electrical Systems Specialist to address incident-related, standing, or emerging issues that surpass the capacity of local operations.
- Identifying opportunities for cost savings and system improvements.
- Contributing to the effective resolution of post-construction-related punch list items.
- Aiding project and commissioning engineers with electrical-related challenges as needed.
- Supporting Development Team reviews and providing operational guidance for designs.
- Undertaking periodic visits to regions within APAC for factory testing, site visits, and discussions with Electrical Supply Authorities.
Key Qualifications:
- Professional qualifications, with a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, and specific post-graduate power engineering qualifications. Preferably a registered professional engineer.
- Extensive experience in roles involving HV engineering, with a track record of delivering projects exceeding 10MW. A minimum of 10 years of experience is required, with previous exposure to the Asia-Pacific region being preferable.
- Familiarity with the Transmission & Distribution industry, particularly in relation to infrastructure and energy retailing.
- A comprehensive technical understanding of HV systems and assets, including switchgear, transformers, and protection relays.
- Profound knowledge of secondary control systems such as protection and SCADA systems.
- Strong organizational skills, adaptability to manage workloads to meet deadlines, and excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in interpreting electrical drawings and specifications.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to interact with professionals at all levels within an organization.
- A professional demeanor with persuasive skills to drive initiatives forward.
