Main duties: Give feedback in order to develop in house processes and office functions to ensure efficient and accurate processes. Answering calls with a responsive approach and excellent telephone manner. Responding to emails from professionals, other NHS organisations and parents. Assists with photocopying and scanning into medical records. Assists new staff recruited to the team by demonstrating own duties and explaining procedures and standards. Assists new staff recruited to the service by showing them around the premises and explaining health and safety and fire evacuation procedures. File electronic and paper based patient, staff and other service records in line with office procedures. Cover the 17:00 finish once a week, with the support of an Administrator, have a flexible approach to this and be willing to swap and change days to support the rest of the team and service when needed.

About You

As a Casual Sessional within Vocational Education, you will be mainly responsible for the delivery of course material, assessing students and the supervision of students enrolled in selected courses within the program.

You will participate in the program’s continuing review of course content and development, delivery, teaching methods (including on-line delivery methods) and methods of students’ assessment. Your performance will be underpinned by participation in relevant activities which ensure your vocational competence meets and/or exceeds the education level being delivered and assessed.

We are looking for sessional teachers to assist in subjects covering the programs: Certificate III-C3407 Dental Assisting and/or  Cert IV-C4419 Dental Assisting Radiography, C5387 Diploma of Dental Technology, C6157- Advanced Diploma of dental Prosthetics

Key Responsibilities

• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills, relevant to teaching and consultancy environments.

• Strong presentation and facilitation skills, and in the use of flexible teaching methods.

• Experience in competency-based assessment.

• Skilled in diagnosing learning problems in students, propose and implement effective solutions. 

Our ideal candidate will have:

• A qualification in the TAE40116 – Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its equivalent; or higher-level qualification in adult education.

• Current industry experience within Dental Technology and Prosthetics.

• Demonstrated experience of teaching in Vocational Education is desirable.

Analyzes medical records for completeness, consistency and compliance with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and medical staff requirements.

Performs the monthly medical record audit in coordination with the medical staff.

Processes requests for medical information from outside hospitals, clinics, and physicians.

Responds to requests from outside sources requesting release of BOP medical information, including court orders, requests by U.S. Attorneys and other institutions.

Codes, using ICD-9-CM, complicated diagnoses and procedures for discharged inmates, ensuring diagnoses and procedures are supported in the medical record and appropriately reported via Sentry.

Establishes medical records for all new admissions to facility; acquires, monitors and accounts for the medical records which accompany those patients transferred in from other BOP institutions.

Performs a full range of administrative duties, including preparing reports, purchase orders, receiving reports, pay vouchers, quarterly and annual reports, medical referrals for treatment to other BOP facilities and pre-certification requests.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

We are currently seeking a full time Health Information Services Manager to implement and manage our patient information systems as well as clinical and administrative data.

We are offering a salary of: $75,000-80,000

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role works closely with our Orthopaedic Surgeons and includes liaising with patients, hospitals, medical representatives, health professionals and our other staff members. You will be responsible for:

• Managing health information services, including patient information systems, and clinical and administrative data.
• Maintaining computerised and other patient record management systems and record forms.
• Controlling access to confidential information and recommending policies and practices for accessing records including patient identification, security, filing and retrieval.
• Providing training and liaising with clinical and administrative staff to ensure compliance within health information processes.
• Ensuring the confidentiality of all patient information is maintained in accordance with national regulatory frameworks.

ABOUT YOU

The successful candidate will hold relevant tertiary qualifications or commensurate work experience, with a minimum 5 years experience within the Orthopaedic industry. You must have strong knowledge of healthcare processes, health records and administration and information management as well as sound understanding of patient information technology and billings both clinical and surgical.

• The duties in this position are primarily advisory and technical in nature. Incumbent is responsible for evaluating the adequacy of each completed authorization form. Screens each request for information to determine urgency and assures that most urgent requests are completed fist using established priority systems. Personally greets veterans/visitors and assists them in determining the exact nature of the request and whether the information requested can be released.
• Applies public laws, rules, regulations and exclusions governing confidentiality of the medical record, including the Privacy Act, Freedom of Information Act and 38 U.S.C. 7332 governing the release of records containing information regarding the treatment of or referral for drug and/or alcohol abuse, Sickle Cell Anemia and infection with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
• The incumbent processes all incoming requests to the facility for Release of Information (ROI) along with information required by the VA Regional Office through the Automated Medical Information Exchange (AMIE), referring only problem cases to the Supervisor.
• Evaluates validity of each request. Determines which information is to be released in compliance with existing laws (Privacy Act of 1974, Freedom of Information Act, and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). Ensures that proper authorization exists before release is made. Processes the request to the requesting agency or individual. Inputs all requests into the ROI computer package for logging and tracking of these requests.
• Receives and directs callers and visitors. Receives and/or gives out forms and assists visitors and/or callers with the completion of forms or documents. Responds to questions from patients concerning services. Provides advisory and technical assistance to patients, administrative staff and professional staff regarding release of information. Inquiries vary widely and information given requires explanation of office functions, describing specific requirements, providing basic instructions, or a similar degree of detail.
• Searches records or files to compose responses, including electronic searches to retrieve and summarize hard-to-locate data. Locates materials that would verify information given. Reviews paper and computerized health records (i.e., scanned notes, reports, special tests, etc.) to identify material to be photocopied/printed/written to electronic media and released.
• Employee composes responses to routine requests for release of patient information. Selects and compiles information from health records and prepares correspondence, typically using standard form or standard formats for letters. Ensures the information released is limited to what is specifically authorized and to the person or agency designated to receive it.
• Composes detailed explanations in response to correspondence received, arranging information into logical sequence and appropriate format and choosing appropriate words and expressions to convey the desired tone. Determines extent and tone of replies independently.
• Resolves conflicting or inconsistent information found on initial requests. This involves dealing with patients and/or third parties to resolve discrepancies, sorting out errors and reconstructing past transactions, cases or events, or finding alternative sources of information.
• Replies to vague, incomplete, or ambiguous inquires by independently recognizing issues, topics or problems. Inquiries are usually presented by patients or third parties who are not sure what information they are looking for or do not know how to identify it by title. Finds alternative sources of information on which to base a reply when correspondent has provided sketchy or inaccurate information.
• Processes Social Security requests for health information using ROI software. Downloads VistA Imaging documents and ROI software documents onto a secure Network Drive. Accesses the secured Social Security Web page and uploads the documents to the Web portal.
• Completes and processes routine releases of information to other VA and Federal Agencies and when requested, to patients and their families, insurance representatives, physicians, hospitals, and city and state health agencies according to VA directives. Processing must be accomplished within established time standards. Completes necessary transactions for deposit of money collected from subpoenas, legal fees, and processing fees for release of information to individuals and insurance companies.
