Pay rate: Up to £395.90 per day PAYE depending on experience
Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours
This opening assignment is for 7 months

A Finance Manager (Children’s Service) is required to contribute to the provision of a comprehensive, professional, financial support service to customers. To be an integral member of the Service Finance Manager Group and expected to help drive the delivery of a modernised service, through leading well, supporting the team, delivering to customers, instilling confidence and provide challenge options and solutions.
Key responsibilities:
Responsible for providing a comprehensive, high quality, financial service including the management and supervision of staff.
Be a visible leader, manage resources effectively, and be passionate about making a difference. In doing this you will be expected to provide and share information in a clear and concise manner to build understanding.
Have management responsibility for a finance team, be a positive role model and ensure commitment towards team goals and Service vision and priorities.
Performance manage your team and ensure delivery to customers.
Look to create positive working relationships and be committed to developing your team and yourself.
Support the Head of Service by being a member of the Finance Manager Group.
Provision of a comprehensive, high quality and timely financial management service that is directed and controlled in accordance with statutory, financial and Council procedures.
Achievement of corporate and Service objectives.
Continuation of high-quality financial processes, together with assisting in their improvement and further development through review, evaluation and challenge of practice and current expectations and by recommending and overseeing the implementation of change.
Aid the Service Director, and Head of Service in the development and maintenance of financial planning processes.

Qualifications:
Member of a recognised CCAB professional accountancy body.
Experience:
Experience in the application of resource and business planning within a local authority or similarly complex organisation.
Experience of complex financial systems in a large organisation.
Experience of supporting the preparation of budgets, medium term financial and service plans and introducing appropriate mechanisms to monitor their activity.
Ability to advise and motivate senior managers and finance staff and prioritise workloads.
Experience of supporting managers in producing sound and robust business cases for the investment of resource in the service.
Experience of helping service managers in identifying and managing risk.
Experience of giving advice on financial issues to managers and other stakeholders.
Experience of managing the preparation of annual accounts.
Knowledge:
An awareness of the current issues affecting local government and the financial implications for local authorities.
Knowledge of professional accounting standards.
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to support managers in the development of finance services.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
