This post provides an opportunity to gain experience in limb reconstruction techniques in a leading limb reconstruction unit. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will develop skills to pursue a career in adult or paediatric limb reconstruction. The weekly programme is flexible and the emphasis is on the involvement in the management of patients with limb injuries as well as the surgical treatment of congenital and acquired limb deformity.

The post holder will be able to attend up to 7 operating sessions per week as well as being involved in the clinic and ward management of limb reconstruction patients. The post holder will also be expected to liaise with the staff on the unit and participate in the planning and organisation and post operative care of the unit patients.

Although there is an emphasis on the use of Ilizarov techniques and the Taylor Spatial frame, a significant proportion of patients will be treated with internal fixation. There will be opportunities to undertake surgery on peri-articular fractures and other complex primary trauma as well as the use of cutting edge techniques pioneered in the unit.

The successful candidate will be expected to take an active role in clinical research and teaching. The post holder is also expected to contribute to clinical papers and audit as a result of work undertaken by the Limb Reconstruction Team.

Although there is no formal on call commitment within the post there may be opportunities where on call duties may be possible.

Paediatric Gastroenterology Clinical Nurse Specialist.

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 7 CNS to work within our Gastroenterology team. You will care for children with diverse gastroenterological conditions, including but not exclusively, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Coeliac disease, eating disorders and liver disease. Therefore, some degree of knowledge of these conditions would be advantageous.

The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) provides a local service for Bristol Children and a referral service for specialist care for families across the Southwest. The CNS will work closely with the multidisciplinary team in hospital and the community to ensure a co-ordinated quality service and will be actively involved in education, audit and research.

Whilst the post is based at BRHC the team attend peripheral clinics in Truro, Swindon, Plymouth, Torbay and Exeter

Main Duties and Responsibilities
• The post holder will engage and lead discussions in multidisciplinary team meetings.
• To provide specialises, highly skilled nursing care to children with gastroenterological problems and liver, of which at least 50% will have Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD).
• Improve standards of care for all children with gastroenterological conditions attending This includes IBD patients, patients with chronic gastroenterology & liver conditions.
• To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, co-managing the caseload of families seen by the Paediatric Gastroenterology To support the families through diagnosis and treatment in their social, emotional and health needs, referring to appropriate professionals and services where necessary.
• To develop and strengthen clinical and educational links with Health Visitors, Practice Nurses, Community Nurses and other regional medical and paramedical staff.

A full-time substantive role, has arisen for a suitably qualified enthusiastic person to join our team of physiologists in the Sleep Unit within the Respiratory Medicine Department at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

The ideal applicant will have a BSc in Clinical Physiology or equivalent qualification and have successfully completed ARTP Parts I & II or Practitioner level exam. They should also have relevant experience in sleep studies.

As well as carrying out clinical investigations the role will involve deputising for the Lead Clinical Physiologist, assisting with service development, providing supervision and ongoing education for other members of staff and students on placement within the department. You should have the ability to work flexibly, be able to work with your own initiative and enjoy working as part of a team. A keen eye for detail and accuracy is also required. You will be expected to work closely with other healthcare professionals, including respiratory consultants, nurses and physiotherapists.

This role is for 37.5 hours per week. There can be some flexibility regarding the exact hours to be worked, although there is the requirement for some evening (late shift) working.
• Responsible for providing an efficient and high quality service in the field of Sleep Studies and to provide the very best care and efficient treatment of patients during their stay in the department.

The ideal candidate will have:
• General Pharmaceutical Council for Pharmacists registration
• Experience of hospital pharmacy practice
• Knowledge of the legal framework for the dispensing prescribing and administration of medicines
• Good understanding of medicine and nursing practice, record keeping and terminology

We are currently recruiting a Violence Reduction Officer on a permanent basis to support the security team and work closely with the police to investigate crimes committed against UHBW employees.

They are to ensure that all investigations into incidents of violence are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner and to work in partnership with the police to aid investigation into crimes committed against UHBW employees. This will include sensitive and emotive topics including crimes against the person.

This role is predominantly desk based with an expectation for site visits and face to face meetings when required.

This role is currently subject to banding.

Your duties will include:
• Collaboratively engage with Policing, Wellbeing and other support mechanisms internal and external to the Trust
• Manage compliance against statutory and NHS standards relating to security investigations and victim support
• Support the delivery of the Care Quality Commission objectives to reduce violence and aggression directed towards UHBW staff, patients and visitors
• Identify and save CCTV and Bodycam footage
• Identify subsequent training requirements for security staff and managers.
• Provide specialist guidance to UHBW managers regarding violence reduction, victim support and investigations.

You will provide high quality project management for complex capital projects over a wide range of values from inception to commissioning and handover to the Maintenance Manager and /or the clinical service manager – and significantly contribute to the management of the Trust's multi-campus, multi-building estate and property portfolio.

You will work to design, specify and cost to an approved brief and to deliver a completed signed off scheme to agreed programmes on time, within budget, and to specification.

We are currently recruiting for one permanent role and one 18 month fixed term position.

Main duties of the role will include:
• Assess and prepare service user briefs, identifying the service requirements, objectives to be achieved and Healthcare specific standards (HTMs and HBNs) to be met. Compile and obtain approval to a Project Initiation Document/brief.
• Responsible for new works and delegated capital schemes. Involving both direct labour trade staff and contractors.
• Assess feasibility of potential projects both spatially (space planning in accordance with legislative and best practice guidance), forming budget estimates for clients within an agreed timeframe (Estates Service Level Agreement) and utilising the skills of in-house Building and Engineering Estates Officers and other external professionals, as and when required.
• Lead on and provide professional expert advice on approach to producing feasibility reports and business case reports for consideration by the users, Divisional Managers, and the Trust’s Executive groups.
• To deputise for the General Manager of Projects as and when required inclusive of undertaking line management duties. To line manage the Project Managers/ Assistant Project Managers and supporting Administrators on a day-to-day basis.

To work in conjunction with the Senior nurses in POA to develop and implement a quality peri-operative assessment service to meet the needs of all clients requiring anaesthesia and surgery. The post holder will work within the department to provide the highest standards of patient care using research evidence-based practice, national and local protocols.

To perform the competencies of a trained pre assessment nurse and in addition any competencies associated to the allocated speciality. To undertake the teaching and assessment of Junior personnel.

The post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for patients undergoing theatre procedures. To act autonomously within given competencies and recognise when to make appropriate referrals.

Fitness for anaesthesia and surgery is assessed and patients are prepared pre-operatively.

- Maintain a dynamic enthusiastic role model providing clinical leadership regarding pre-operative assessment and preparation to ensure a high standard of care.

- To work with initiative and independently within the extended role seeking support in line with local protocol.

- Understand the risks and benefits of surgery and anaesthesia with appropriate intervention.

- History taking ensuring relevant medical and social history.

- Interpretation of clinical findings

- Incorporating evidence / research-based practice. The post holder will assess, plan implement and evaluate individualised programmes of care of patients during pre-operative and peri-operative period.

- Initiate appropriate referrals, investigation, education, and treatment in light of assessment.

- Evaluate the patients programme of care with other members of the care team

Demonstrate initiative, decision making and good time management.

The post holder will co-operate with staff from other departments to develop effective channels of communication and to provide a safe and caring environment for patients, relatives, and members of the multidisciplinary team.
