The Technology Division creates digital experiences for and delivers information technology services to the National Geographic Society. Purchasing & Accounts Payable (60%)
Processes purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and verbal/electronic orders, including facilitating legal review of orders and contracts.
Processes invoices and expense reports and tracks ongoing technology spending activities to ensure alignment with budgets and forecasts.
Oversees and accurately uses the repository of department-specific accounting codes for technology-related financial transactions.
Ensures all purchased items have an entry in the master configuration management database (CMDB) prior to purchases being approved or when received.
Monitors expenditures against purchase orders and performs related closeout processes. Tracks and manages consumption-based services and alerts management or other stakeholders of cost increases compared to forecasts.

Performs financial management reporting tasks including complex costs analysis, key performance indicators, and other operational metrics.

Administrative Office Support (10%)
Provides the management team and all department staff members with general office support, including maintaining office supplies and submitting contracts for Legal review.
Drafts, reviews, and publishes informational communications that are sent to all staff including service outage notices, incident patterns, tips and tricks, etc.
Maintains a repository of department policies and procedures.
Inventory Management (5%)
Receives equipment and software licenses, and compares goods received to original orders.
Uses software license management system to track license assignments and make regular recommendations for increasing or reducing quantities.
Collaborates with various teams to ensure inventory records are accurate and LEED standards for technology equipment are maintained.

Business Strategy and Sales Execution (50%)
Establish business strategy for Base Camp ticket sales, including ticket pricing, dynamic pricing, and associated discounts

Oversee concessionaire in developing restaurant proforma; identify ways to increase revenue and minimize expense
Oversee retail proforma, including product strategy, development, and execution

Oversee event rentals and event operations, including establishing event rental policies and ensuring use of event space is maximized for NGS mission and revenue
