What you'll be doing

Required to take part in the Winter Service Delivery, ensuring the highway is salted in preparation for cold/icy conditions keeping the highway safe for general users, as well as the removal of snow in such conditions.

All works undertaken by the Winter Maintenance Operative / Driver must be completed to the required Health, Safety and Quality standards. You will be required to be available on a standby rota every other week as a minimum.

Technical / Operations:
Ensure that all Daily vehicle Checks are undertaken and reported.
Conduct winter gritting activities against required quality standards.
Perform driving activities to assigned Winter Maintenance Routes.
Ensure the work is completed right first time.
Compliance with all fleet movement procedures at the operational depot.

Balfour Beatty Power T&D (England) is a leading contractor in the Power Sector, specializing in the design and delivery of multi-utilities. We are looking for a talented Construction CRE Track to join our Rail team and work on the successful delivery of the rail works associated with the Sizewell C project.

What you'll be doing

• Provide the Project Team with discipline-specific technical guidance, leadership, and site safety oversight, monitoring project performance to maximise efficiency and ensure timely delivery.
• Coordinate and manage Track discipline engineering activities across all relevant internal and external parties.
• Develop and adapt project Technical Instructions for the Track discipline to support efficient and safe project methodologies and installation activities.
• Ensure that discipline design and installation comply with all applicable standards, legislation, contract requirements, and specifications.
• Adhere to the risk assessment and mitigation plan to manage technical risks effectively during pre-construction and delivery phases.
• Support the Project Team in reviewing and executing Track design and construction activities, including assessing construction risks, mitigation strategies, method statements, and work package plans.

Who we're looking for

• Minimum HNC/HND in Civil Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) (desirable).
• Strong and proven experience in a similar role on railway infrastructure project.
• Strong knowledge of site engineering practices and equipment.
• PTS certification.
• Collaborative and influential leadership skills.
• Excellent communication, with ability to listen, provide clear and concise instruction during normal and emergency situations, is assertive and shares information effectively.

This role is predominantly site-based, supporting OHL (overhead line) operational projects across Scotland. There may occasionally be a requirement to support additional sites around the UK. You will ensure that OHL large plant and specialist equipment is serviced, maintained, and repaired to the required standards, ensuring the client has maximum equipment availability. To complete documentation correctly, submit in a timely manner, and carry out communal workshop duties as directed by the team leader.

What you'll be doing

• To report to and follow work instruction from the team leader/manager and/or liaise with and follow instruction from the site project team as required.
• Take responsibility for works conducted on our specialist overhead line large plant and equipment ensuring it is serviced and maintained in line with legislation and manufacturers requirements and agreed service level intervals.
• Work as part of a team and support and assist others in maintenance tasks as required.
• Carry out planned as well as reactive maintenance across a variety of plant and equipment.
• Ensure that all work activities are compliant with the safety rules, health and safety legislation and environmental standards.
• To complete all documentation or electronic systems clearly and accurately and in a timely manner.
• To be responsible for booking out all spare parts used and requesting parts as and when required.
• To work regular paid weekday & weekend overtime as required.
• Ensure the customer’s requirements are delivered including breakdown response in line with agreed SLA’s.
• As required, support additional operational projects around the UK.

Who we're looking for

• An ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Experience of working on a busy site environment.
• Ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience in the servicing and maintenance of large diesel driven plant including hydraulics and electrical system.
• To have completed a plant apprenticeship or hold recognised Mechanical/ electrical qualification.
• To be computer literate and able to use Microsoft Office.
• Ability to carry out fault finding and diagnostics on large diesel driven plant.
• Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety requirements in the workplace.
• To hold a full UK driving licence.

Purpose of the role:

• Collate costs in relation to infrastructure projects with experience of identifying commercial risks and opportunities in respect of their works
• Deliver varied commercial duties including responsibility for procuring and managing supply chain

• Create and maintain commercial relationships to both internal and external stakeholders

What you'll be doing

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will have the following accountabilities:

• Good knowledge of the Company's 'Group Minimum Commercial Expectations' and promotes use and adherence, including other governance requirements in line with the Gated Business Lifecycle process
• Collate cost and value information supporting the cost value reconciliation (CVR) process
• Analyse the tender budget in line with actual cost
• Complete the measurement of works and agreements with clients

What you'll be doing

As a Programme & Permit Manager you will have the following accountabilities:

• To have an excellent working knowledge of the New Roads & Street Works Act and Traffic Management Act. To provide guidance and support across the Contract on road space requirements
• To have an excellent understanding, and experience of Network Management principals. Manage the day-to-day activities of the team, ensuring relevant workloads are covered, and actioned. To be the point of escalation for coordination issues and challenges, supporting the team as required. To drive joint discussions, bringing parties together to ensure collaborative working is maximised
• Manage the workload of the team, to ensure permits, programmes and other applications are responded to within the required timescales
• Liaise with customers, local authorities, and utilities to ensure positive relations are maintained and their observations and comments are considered to the benefit of the contract. Build on existing and create new relationships with new statutory undertakers enforcing the companies attitudes and values.
• Ensure processes for permit & licence applications, invoices, and Street Works charges are followed and updated to ensure income and cost recovery is maximised
• Provide regular reports to the Traffic & Network Manager as required.

You will have the following:

• Educated to GCSE standard
• Excellent IT and report writing skills, with the ability to communicate at the highest levels
• Excellent working knowledge and experience of legislation and codes of practice as they relate to role
• Experience of working in a Network Management environment

What you'll be doing

Leading on the development and coordination of services to encourage community self-help opportunities through new and existing services whilst supporting the locality agenda.

Empowering communities to do more through the use of volunteers, paying for services (community commissioning model), devolving assets and through schemes such as the Lengthsman and Drainage

Active liaison with community groups, landowners, and other interested groups in the provision of services, actively coordinating best solutions around delivery to meet their needs.

Effectively supporting the customer services, and locality teams in providing a positive customer experience ensuring the contract delivers a responsive and needs-focused service effectively managing their expectations.

Identify opportunities and delivery mechanism for increasing support to local communities to empower them to support themselves; e.g Lengthsman and Drainage schemes, community commissioning model, supporting volunteers to take on service. Actively encourage Parishes to enrol on LM scheme and direct them to CCM for works out of BBLP scope.

Ownership of Community Commissioning schemes from inception to completion, monitoring associated costs, raising invoices and liaison with teams for delivery.

Liaison with Herefordshire Council staff.

Who we're looking for

Responsive to customer requirements with positive attitude towards the needs of all stakeholders.

Excellent planning and organisational skills.

Good presentation, influencing and motivation skills.

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Desire to develop and is motivated to achieving targets.

PC Literate and knowledge of MS suite i.e. Word, Excel etc.

Working in a political environment

Some understanding of legislation around working on the highway, open spaces, and rights of way desirable.
