Key Elements Of The Role:

Investigate Sexually Transmitted Diseases (Syphilis, Gonorrhea and Chlamydia); report positive cases to NY State and notify partners of possible exposure. Work includes telephone contact and field visits to patients, providers and contacts. The STD office provides educational trainings to community outreach groups and medical providers. We participate in health fairs, outreach projects (which may include testing) and local organizations/planning committees. Goal is to reduce morbidity of sexually transmitted disease through collaboration and teamwork with County Health Centers, private providers and local organizations

The Office of Global Health and HIV (OGHH) provides management, coordination and strategic guidance for Peace Corps (PC) global health activities and ensures that the Agency and individual posts implement sound, evidence-based health activities. OGHH works closely with the Peace Corps Regional offices, the Office of Programming and Training Support (OPATS), the Office of the Chief Financial Officer, and other offices to support the agency's priorities. OGHH is also responsible for coordinating the agency's participation in the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), which is led by the Office of the Global AIDS Coordinator (OGAC) in the U.S. State Department. This occupation is being considered for a Veterans Health Administration enterprise-wide Critical Skills Incentive (CSI). Candidates may be eligible for a lump sum CSI. The amount of lump sum CSI is determined based on appointment date and may be pro-rated as determined by the end date of the CSI. Eligible candidates will be required to sign a service agreement agreeing to an obligated service period and failure to complete the obligated service period may result in a debt for the unearned portion of the CSI.

Starting at $88,916 Per Year (GS 10)

You will serve as a Police Officer Corporal (Instructor) and administer and coordinate the education and training program for Police Service from initial-entry training to assessment, in-services training, and retraining of Officers throughout the year.

You will oversee the initial on-the-job training of all newly assigned personnel.

You will conduct classroom lectures and PowerPoint presentations, role-playing scenarios, and skills demonstrations.

You will prepare material related to the use of the VA police computer package; writing reports; documenting incidents; use of the Expandable Straight Baton; oleoresin capsicum spray recertification; defense tactics; handcuffing; the clearing of buildings; and AED and CPR.

You will oversee instructors' firearms, ground defense, active threat, etc. to provide guidance and evaluate their courses.

You will explain work requirements, methods, and procedures as needed, including providing special instructions and answering technical questions about the work.

You will prepare lesson plans and critiques instruction and instructional material.

You will ensure courses are well structured and ample training materials are available from several sources.

You will maintain and keep current the video library, law enforcement source library, training records, training budget and training computer files.

You will coordinate with Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies regarding updates in police information, procedures, and legal decisions.

You will perform duties as he Deputy Chief of Police and report directly to the Chief of Police.

You will be responsible for assisting the Chief with the operation, direction, and control of the law enforcement and physical security activities of the VA Puget Health Care System.

You will provide extensive support in the management of physical security of assets, information, buildings, and people.

You will be responsibility for the management, operation, direction, and control of Police Service's law enforcement and physical security functions and its off-site properties 24 hour a day, 7 day a week basis.

You will observe, evaluate, and prepare reports on the performance of department personnel.

You will develop programs to alter the behavior of employees whose work performance is below acceptable standards.

You will assign and explain work requirements to subordinate supervisors for new or changed programs to meet police functions, goals, processes, skills, and needs.

You will develop solutions to continuing problems in the quality of work and operating effectiveness and take or recommend necessary corrective actions.

You will hear grievances and serious employee complaints to resolve or recommend solutions.

Position Description Title/PD#: Supervisory Security Specialist/PD99955A

Physical Requirements: The position is required to exert considerable and strenuous physical effort on a regular basis while performing the functions of the position. These functions are normally performed while the position conducts security surveys and inspections, which require crawling in unusually confined building areas. May be called upon to defend themselves and members of staff, patients or the public against physical attack and may be required to exercise deadly force if necessary. Requirements of the position include maintaining firearms qualifications, climbing flights of stairs, carrying heavy equipment/patients during emergencies, running, bending, stooping, physical restraint of aggressive persons, being subjected to assaults by persons evading arrest. Inspections and audits of security systems, constructions sites, and full searches require the performance of duties in a variety of inclement weather conditions walking, crawling in wooded or over-grown field conditions in all elements of seasonal weather.

Work Conditions: The work is primarily performed in an office-like setting. However, there is the potential for dangerous situations to occur at VA installations to include physical assaults, assaults involving various hidden and open weapons, including firearms, knives, clubs, etc. Without knowledge of the medical history of persons, the position is responsible for physically interacting with aggressive persons. In addition, there can be exposure to moderate discomfort and unpleasantness during adverse weather conditions.

Starting at $92,123 Per Year (GS 12)

The incumbent of this position serves as a Lead Police Officer at the Harry S. Truman VA Medical Center in Columbia, MO with full law enforcement and investigative authority as defined within 38 USC 902, VA Directives, Handbooks, and other operational guidance. Performs or coordinates services routinely at all segments of VA facilities located over large geographical areas, some of which may be in different states, counties, municipalities, or townships. Leads a unit or team of employees and distributes/balances workload in accordance with established workflow or job specialization

• Conducts continuous training in alignment with policy to maintain a high-level of canine tracking/trailing performance and coordinates additional training if necessary
• Develops, conducts, documents, and reports on mandated, regular training, drills, and simulation exercises for the search/detector dog to maintain a high level of proficiency
