Professional Duties Embrace the trust vision and support the Director of Midwifery and Womens Services to lead the implementation of the nursing and midwifery ambitions. Contribute to the implementation of major service delivery and transformation plans across the Division, including those involving cross pathway working internally and externally in support of enhanced patient care and quality of services using established project methodology. Contribute and lead on aspects of national driver implementation plans and monitor progress in service delivery. Supporting the success of programmes such as Maternity and Neonatal Transformation plan, Maternity Incentive Scheme and GIRFT, monitoring progress and actioning planning accordingly. Relationships & Networking Seek out and take advantage of a wide range of networks and contacts, building positive relationships with people at all levels both internally and external to the Trust. As a minimum, the post holder is responsible for: Representing the Directorate and Division within the Trust, and with partner organisations, working closely with them to institute integrated working in the best interests of patient care. Delivery Lead on identifying and cascading appropriate challenging goals and objectives through business and workforce planning and appraisal, making prompt, clear decisions which may involve tough choices or considered risks, ensuring that monitoring processes are in place. Commercial Lead on ensuring that patient care and services within remit are forward thinking, of exceptional quality and within budget. As a minimum, the post holder is responsible for: Encouraging a climate that allows front line staff to question and redefine how their work is undertaken ensuring the on-going development of patient centred care and cost effective use of resources. Supporting the development of future orientated patient care and services to improve standards of care, address governance issues, improve efficiency and tariff income. Project managing agreed service developments and plans to ensure key targets are achieved, including cross cutting themes and patient pathways, and contributing to the delivery of transformational work streams. As a minimum, the post holder is responsible for: Working with the senior leadership team, support the development of managers and team leaders to ensure that caring and compassionate patient care and services are led by competent, capable and high performing teams. Working with the senior leadership team, ensure that staff health and wellbeing is at the heart of all people management practice, and that there are mechanisms in place to develop resilience, reduce pressure points, and provide support for staff to manage their working lives, including application of Trust HR policies as and when required. Presenting & Communicating Present information in a succinct, accurate manner conveying key messages with skill and confidence, handling questions clearly and concisely. As a minimum, the post holder is responsible for: Demonstrating effective communication skills in delivering key messages with clarity and succinctly whilst ensuring that that main message is clear, whilst encouraging two-way communications. Forming an essential two-way communications link between the nursing profession and other staff in the Directorate, ensuring that key messages, team briefs are shared and discussed, escalating media enquiries to the Director of Midwifery and Womens Services. Quality & Performance Actively lead on improving the delivery of patient care and services by analysis of complex data and information, developing and implementing solutions to enhance quality and meet performance targets. Patient Safety Regularly monitor that the legal obligations and that patient and other safety requirements for area(s) of responsibility are being met. Knowledge & Expertise Lead an organisational learning approach to share and learn from successes and failures, staff and service user feedback, using evidence and research to change and improve patient care and services.
