This is an exciting opportunity to join the Facilities Management team working within the Workplace Delivery service. The position will involve contributing towards the general maintenance and cleanliness of buildings alongside logistical movements across the estate.
You will be highly motivated and organised, with the ability to plan and prioritise your own workload when dealing with reactive issues. Multiple applications, systems and associated software packages will be used daily, therefore ICT skills are desirable but not essential as full training will be given.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- The directing of Facilities Assistants (Level 1 & 2) to ensure all cleaning tasks are carried out in accordance with our procedures and standards. You will monitor this by conducting regular site visits, completing site audit forms, and liaising with building users.
- Effectively maintaining the internal and external appearance and cleanliness of buildings and the immediate surrounding areas, carrying out inspections, liaising with customers and reporting identified issues.
- Manual Handling of loads using appropriate equipment including the driving of vehicles requiring a normal driving License.
- Undertake Minor Repairs including some working at height and use of small hand tools.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and independently to ensure safe working environments and practices, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Undertaking of building based safety inspections and legal compliance safety checks such weekly Fire Alarm tests.
- Carrying out all tasks in accordance with procedures and to the required quality standards to deliver a customer focused service.
You must be available to work shift patterns within our core hours of 06:00 and 19:00.
About the team/service: The Facilities Management team is part of the Corporate Estates team and is responsible for various different types of buildings citywide. We are committed to providing excellent service and surpass building users expectations by ensuring environments are:

You will be invited to attend an open morning to find out more about our cleaning role and answer some questions so we can get to know you better. If you are successful on the day, you will be asked to provide all information required to conduct the relevant pre-employment checks.
You will contribute towards the goals of the team through the provision of high quality and responsive facilities management. We are looking for a candidate that can provide a flexible, seamless, customer focused service whilst undertaking a variety of tasks to a high quality standard.
You will be required to drive a Manchester City Council vehicle to visit various sites and will therefore hold a full clean driving license.
