The incumbent performs the following duties:

• Directs the work of others to provide timely service for patient testing. Plans work schedule of subordinates to insure blood drawing and sterile urine collection coverage on all nursing units, outpatient clinics, central accessioning and processing allowing for unexpected changes in workload considering shortages in staff and emergency situations which demand that strict deadlines are met.
• Coordinates with area supervisors and the Chief of Phlebotomy, in handling day-to-day problems and solutions to unusual problems. Communicates with patients, doctors, head nurses, and other nursing staff on a daily basis to provide pickup service to the nursing units. Contacts nursing and laboratory personnel when mutual problems arise regarding the quality or promptness of specimen collection. • Performs complex accessioning routines required by the update of the laboratory information system (LIS) to match tests requested to number and type of specimen tubes received in order to properly account for all orders on the patient. The sophistication of the LIS requires additional clerical work in obtaining the proper labels for tests and in maintaining the paper transmittal sheets for easy retrieval.
• Enters orders into the Clinical Research Information system (CRIS) for outpatients according to the complex research protocols requirements. This requires clerical duties to match handwritten orders to the patient visit and entry of the appropriate request in the CRIS.
• Trains members of the Phlebotomy Service in the accessioning and processing functions as well as higher grade Medical Technologists from other Services within the Department of Laboratory Medicine to accession and process specimens for evening, night, and weekend coverage. Instructs users to access the Clinical Research Information system (CRIS) and to enter test results and order comments into the computer.
• Instructs phlebotomists regarding specimen acceptability based on sufficient volume of specimen for the test(s) requested, proper container, transport media, and other conditions. If the specimen is not sufficient, incumbent contacts the requesting physician to see if there are any particular preferences for certain tests over others; incumbent makes sure the preferred tests are performed first.

Undertake a patient facing and patient supporting role to ensure effective medicines use, through shared decision-making conversations with patients. We’re looking for a Facilities Assistant (Temp) to join our fantastic team based in Belfast City Centre.

What you need to do the job:

To be considered for this role you must demonstrate Excellent Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office 365 Suite. The role requires excellent IT, written and verbal communication skills. It goes without saying that you must have excellent organisational skills and have the ability to work under pressure and flexibility within a busy team. It is essential that you have the ability to work to tight schedules and pressurised deadlines.

This role requires the commitment to quality of service. Additionally, you must have an enthusiastic approach within a target orientated environment.

Essential Criteria


- Intermediate MS office skills (IT)
- Previous experience in a customer facing role in a highly professional environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong organisation and time management skills
- Ability to work effectively and supportively as a member of a team
- Ability to step into other roles as needed to backup and assist other teams
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as accept direction on given assignments
- Ability to act on own initiative, dealing with any unexpected problems that arise

Willingness to take personal responsibility for standard of work conducted

- Always present a professional appearance within your team


Desirable Criteria

- Have worked in grade A office environment or familiar setting in a facilities role
- Advanced MS office skills (IT)
- A sound knowledge of operating IT systems and PC skills
- Previous experience in helpdesk, switchboard, and reprographic duties
- Previous security experience – opening and closing of buildings

- Help Desk. Procedures, checklists, and task lists will be formulated within the team to provide coverage in all areas of FM delivery. Other duties may be added upon direction of the Help Desk Supervisor/Contract Manager to deliver the changing services required by our client.

The post holder will be responsible as part of the decontamination team for the disinfection of all endoscopes in the unit and those from other departments within the Trust. This will involve inspection, cleaning, leak testing, preparing scopes for placement in the endoscopic washer disinfector and completing the tracking and traceability system following strict departmental protocols. To operate washer / drier decontamination machines after having training To carry out daily / weekly checks of water / machinery as per unit policy and procedures To report any concerns to the Decontamination supervisor / Unit Manager relating to standards of cleanliness, hazards and patient safety within the clinical area. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control in our medical equipment service centre

Monday to Friday full time role and pays £11.44 p/h

Key Responsibilities:

Clean a wide range of medical products, including hospital beds, dynamic/static mattresses, and spare parts from medical equipment.

Adhere to the Company's Infection Control Policy (QSP20), ensuring proper use of cleaning materials, chemicals, procedures, and equipment.

Properly dispose of waste and clinical waste in accordance with company policies.

Perform regular equipment checks, including weekly temperature checks on washing machines, and report any faults immediately.

Consistently use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including waterproof footwear

Qualifications:

Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare or medical equipment setting would be preferred but not essential

Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness

Ability to follow strict protocols and procedures

Good communication and teamwork skills
