An exciting opportunity has now arisen within the City Wide Manchester Macmillan Palliative Support Service for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care.

The post holder will work as part of the Macmillan Specialist multi-disciplinary team comprising of Medics, Dietitian, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Nurses, Speech and Language Therapist, Assistant Practitioners, Admin support and Volunteer Coordinators. The team aims to provide effective support palliative care and/or rehabilitation to patients with a life limiting condition requiring palliative intervention.

Post-16/Secondary 1:1 Learning Support Assistant The role is a Permanent, Term-Time only role Monday to Friday (08:30am – 17:00pm) (approx. 36 teaching weeks per annum) No working required during school holidays Salary from: £25,317 - £28,800 pro rata, depending on experience (£21,700 - £24,656 salary for term-time, 36 weeks pa) To Start: ASAPWhat the role involves: You will not find yourself getting bored in this role! Each day in Post-16 brings new challenges, with both the College Link provision and the Employability provision. Your role may involve providing support in lessons for classes of students from either provision. You’ll also help maintain the learning environments, assist with administration and participate in pastoral sessions, developing professional relationships with students in order to support their learning as well as their social and emotional development. Specifically in this role, you would be employed as a 1:1 for a 16-year-old young person with additional physical needs who uses a wheelchair and needs support with writing and pacing the lesson. The candidate would need to support their movements around school; work with them in directed study; scribe and have a good sense of humour. The young person is very independent and looks for a good rapport with their support staff. This young person is only attending our sixth form provision 3 days a week and so the successful candidate would be allocated to the general LSA team for Secondary or Post 16 for the other two days of the week. This may involve supporting a group of children, maintaining learning environments, supporting pupils pastorally as well as academically.The ideal candidate will have: • Supporting our students can sometimes be challenging, mental and physical resilience are qualities necessary for all our staff. • Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for learning. • Comfortable with short-notice changes to established schedules when necessary• Good English (clear written and spoken English) and numeracy skills. • Knowledge and experience of behaviour management. • The ability to build good working relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers. • Experience of working with children with Special Education Needs (SEN), particularly children on the Autism Spectrum. • The ability to manage small groups of children with complex social communication needs. • The ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment is essential. • Supporting our students can sometimes be challenging, mental and physical resilience are qualities necessary for all our staff
