Job Purpose

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will play a pivotal role in the Group’s leadership team. They will provide vision, professional leadership and strategic direction to achieve the Group’s aims and improvements in quality, efficiency and effectiveness.



The CIO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Reporting to the Corporate Director Regeneration, Environment and Economic Growth the role will be the Council lead for all waste related services and contracts, fleet management and transport operations, countryside management and the maintenance of the street scene for example. This also includes being the lead for the Council’s operational depots.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting, developing, promoting and maintaining constructive multi-agency working to ensure the Council can deliver its priorities, overall aims and objectives ensuring the delivery of high quality services that focus on the needs of local people.

• Responsible for the delivery of the Operational Directorate’s strategy through development of robust business plans, setting of relevant operational targets and delivery of its activities within agreed budgets and standards.
• Lead, with the medical and nursing lead and wider leadership team, the
effective working of governance structures, roles and responsibilities based on multi- disciplinary approaches.
• Ensure there are effective relationships with the ICB (particularly SWL and SEL), Integrated Care Systems, Croydon “Place”, the SL Partnership, Local authorities and other external stakeholders.
• Ensure mechanisms are in place to involve key stakeholders in service planning and delivery, to develop culturally sensitive services acceptable to an ethnically diverse inner city population and to ensure fair access to services irrespective of gender, sexuality, religion, culture, race or disability.
• To contribute to the effective management and development of the Trust and wider partners (including KHP and the SLP) and ensure the Operational Directorate and its interests are effectively represented.
• To host Trust-wide and National Specialist services . All hosted services will be managed by the Director with the same responsibilities as all other Operational Directorate, however the exact portfolio hosted is under review and may be subject to change in line with organisational development processes.
