RPS is looking for an Associate Director Town Planner. This is a key role within our National Development & Infrastructure Planning Team, who work collaboratively with our Environment Division. Working alongside a range of multi-disciplinary services within a team of planning experts, you will be delivering on a broad range of planning applications including residential, mixed-use developments, data centres, airports, retail, logistics, major infrastructure projects and you will be helping to grow and develop business and, provide mentorship to junior planners.

What you will be doing

·Developing new customer relationships and maintaining existing business

·Directing and mentoring junior planners

· Providing input into business plans and Chair Planning Meetings, influencing debate and contributing to discussion on operational matters

· Preparing fee proposals and providing input into tender submissions

· Preparing representations to Local Plan consultations, appearing at Local Plan Examinations and assisting with appeal co-ordination and statements of case

· Presiding over small/medium & large projects including coordinating team members, project finances, overseeing solutions in line with the customer’s expectations and ensuring delivery is on time

Who are looking for?

With experience within this sector, you will already be familiar with what we’re looking for:

· Qualified MRTPI or in another relevant discipline

· A highly experienced and knowledgeable practitioner who has experience in large energy and infrastructure projects, including those requiring Environmental Impact Assessment, and those relating to Developments of National Significance and Development Control Orders

· Full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute and experience of delivering consultancy to a range of customers

· Have an established market reputation with a demonstrable record of winning sustainable and commercially viable projects

· Good financial and project management experience is essential

· Great influencing and communication techniques that enable you to build, maintain and consolidate strong working relationships with colleagues, customers and external bodies

Your new role

You will enjoy working with clients such as large quoted companies, privately owned businesses, banks, financial institutions and institutional investors; in the last year the team have acted on over 60 deals with an aggregate value of over £2billion.


What you will need to succeed
Our client are keen to hear from candidates at the senior associate or associate director level. You will have gained a wide range of experience at a well-respected City or highly regarded national firm. Due to the nature of the work and the structure of the team, you will ideally be a 4-8 PQE lawyer, although candidates with more or less experience will be considered. You will be passionate about developing your career in the Corporate sector and have a high degree of self-motivation and willingness to learn, the ability to work effectively in a team and a passion for delivering excellent service to clients.
