In this role you will support the delivery of strategic projects across the finance directorate, working closely with stakeholders from across the University and play a key role in the development and provision of central FP&A activities.

You will play a leading role in providing a comprehensive, effective and efficient management accounting service across the University, and provide high quality technical support through insightful analysis and issue resolution.

You will support and develop enhanced liaison between the central Finance Office and Colleges, ensuring accurate, timely, relevant and reliable information allowing delivery of a customer service focus. We are looking for Electrical Engineers at Senior Engineer level to lead and coordinate all electrical engineering deliverables across development and construction projects within the Onshore Europe Renewables business.

The scope of work covers the whole project lifecycle and includes onshore wind farm electrical system design and operation, HVAC substations, land cable systems, electrical power system studies, wind turbine electrical systems and grid code compliance. Some of your main responsibilities will include:

- Front-end electrical engineering design works.

- Development of electrical contract documentation including management and preparation of substation, turbine, cable systems and electrical balance of plant contracts.

- Review external contractor's and consultant's specifications and documentation for the procurement of long lead plant items and contracts to ensure SSE requirements are achieved.

To be considered for this role we are looking for some key essential skills and experience:

- We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with specialist knowledge gained from a background preferably working in a Renewables business.

- A Chartered Engineer and a member of the Engineering Council or working towards this goal.

- Strong technical knowledge and experience of renewable electricity generation including technical knowledge of onshore wind power systems and their operation.

- Thorough understanding of commercial awareness in order to understand implications of engineering activities and decisions.

Qualifications/Experience

• Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related subjects.
• Chartered Engineer with CIBSE or IET.
• Proficient in energy reduction methods and approaches to decarbonising new and existing buildings.
• Familiarity with the principles of building physics such as passive design solutions and fabric first approaches.
• Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools such as AutoCAD, Excel, IES, Revit is beneficial
• Experience working in a design consultancy and/or experience of working within a contractor design environment is essential.
• Have a detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards.

Role

• Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems - power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection etc.
• Carry out (and managing of others), in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, dialux, Amtech, in-house developed tools, etc..
• Representing the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.
• Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
• Report and technical note writing.

Qualifications / Experience
