Financial Institution Interns will be assigned to the Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection (DCP).  Interns will work directly on teams with experienced FDIC employees to evaluate FIDC-insured institutions' compliance with fair lending and consumer protection laws and regulations.  These teams are responsible for assessing financial institutions to determine whether they are maintaining effective controls and procedures, managing their institutions effectively, and complying with all applicable laws and regulations, including those relating to consumer protection, privacy, community reinvestment, and fair lending.

Under the direction and supervision of an Examiner or a higher grade team member, the incumbent will participate in and/or independently perform the following:

Assesses the adequacy and determines the strength of the Compliance Management System (senior management oversight; compliance program, including the elements of policies, monitoring, and training; and audit procedures) to ensure ongoing compliance as related to the particular regulation under review.  Conducts reviews and assessments of the following: 

• Examine initial disclosures, periodic statements, advertisements, and other information to evaluate procedures and reviews for compliance with applicable regulations.
• Examine closed-end non-real estate credit transactions for compliance with applicable regulations.
• Review the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act loan application register for accuracy and assesses the bank's overall reporting procedures.
• Review adverse action notices for compliance, and to gain a cursory exposure to applicable lending-related regulations.
• Examine a sample of residential, consumer, commercial and/or agricultural files to determine compliance with consumer laws and regulations.

Reviews applicable regulations and examination manual to become informed about the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).

Participates in discussing the overall examination process including evaluating the bank's Compliance Management System (senior management oversight; compliance program, including the elements of policies, monitoring, and training; and audit procedures).  Asks questions to gain clarification and understanding of examination policies and procedures.

• Observes the interactions between the FDIC and Bank personnel.
• Responds to questions from other examiners regarding his/her section of the Report of Examination.
• Reviews the CRA of an institution and participates in discussion for assigning its rating.
• Prepares a summary of each performance factor describing why rating was assigned.
• With the assistance of an experience examiner, participates in meetings as appropriate.
• After the meeting, asks questions and discusses exam findings with the examiner-in-charge or higher graded team member.

• Serves as a Senior Legal Advisor and the Principal International Law Advisor within the USCYBERCOM Office of the Staff Judge Advocate (OSJA).
• Responsible for international law matters, especially USCYBERCOM’s international agreements program as it relates to policy, plans, partnerships, exercises, and operations.
• Conducts extensive research into legal and command operational issues associated with bi-lateral or multi-lateral proposals in order to ensure compliance with an extensive array of national, host nation, and international laws.
• Renders advice on the spectrum of military and civil legal issues, including but not limited to those matters pertaining to customs and taxes, immigration, burden and expense sharing, labor, facilities, fiscal matters, and the like.
• Serves as the principal international agreements legal advisor with respect to bilateral and multilateral international organizations, and a recognized expert in international law
• Develops, plans, and leads and/or participates as USCYBERCOM’s legal advisor in negotiations undertaken by the command dealing with high level foreign government officials on varied and highly complicated matters with national security significance
• Negotiations often are of interest to the DoD and Department of State as well as the U.S. Congress and may influence relationships between countries involved and the United States and set precedents that may influence negotiations with other nations

As a Management and Program Analyst, you will:

• Serve as a subject matter expert in organizational, program, and project management, as well as strategic planning, ensuring compliance with federal reporting requirements while leveraging expertise in statistical principles and risk management to drive informed decision-making and improve performance.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to FHWA field and headquarters office in program evaluation methods, process, systems, and functional objectives.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and presentation skills by briefing senior leadership on complex issues and effectively conveying data and information to diverse stakeholders. Collaborate effectively as a proactive team player, fostering a positive team dynamic to achieve collective goals.
• Conduct research and prepares reports or working documents to provide guidance on complex program issues, while also drafting and reviewing correspondence, memoranda, briefings, and other documents related to enterprise activities.
• Examine, analyze, and identify critical data for managing and directing programs that drive agency-wide change, utilizing data management tools (e.g., Excel, SharePoint, and PowerBI) and statistical methods to evaluate data collection and analysis techniques, improving program effectiveness and efficiency.

The ideal candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in organizational management, program and project management, and strategic planning, with a strong understanding of federal compliance, statistical principles, and risk management. They will provide expert guidance to FHWA, lead program evaluations, and effectively communicate complex data and recommendations to senior leadership and diverse stakeholders.

The Role and the Department

The International Office is responsible for:

• The recruitment of international students to all areas of the university to meet institutional targets
• Supporting and managing the development of international partnerships to raise the University's global profile and to support academic colleagues in developing international links and collaborations
• Managing the university's student mobility programmes to meet the University's strategic objectives and in particular to widen access to global opportunities.

As a member of the Global Opportunities Team, this role supports the delivery of the University's Global Strategy and achievement of relevant key performance indicators through the development, promotion and efficient administration of international student mobility programmes (incl Turing).The International Coordinator is part of a small and busy team delivering the University's international exchange and study abroad objectives. Their specific responsibilities will be to support the administration of outgoing student exchanges with partner universities including the payment of Turing grants to eligible students and support for the development of key University partnerships. In addition, it is expected that the postholder will retain responsibility for supporting the wider range of activities in which the team is involved including work in support of our incoming fee-paying study abroad programme, as required.

The International Office currently operates on a hybrid working basis.
