The Role

Lancaster City Council is looking to recruit highly motivated Resident Support Officers to join the team supporting the most in need in our district.

This team will work with and be managed by the Customer Services Team.

Your duties will include administering the Household Support Fund as well as signposting people to other support within the district. The Household Support Fund is funded by the UK Government to support those in our district who are struggling to afford the essentials.

The role will involve you providing updates on people’s applications in person and over the phone as well as supporting people to provide the correct documentation before the case is sent for assessment. Once a full financial assessment has been carried out by North Lancashire Citizens Advice you will be responsible for processing the awards.

You may also be out and about in the district providing help, advice and support as well as signposting to third party organisations where appropriate.

We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, organised and can follow procedures as well as being proficient in working with technology and IT.

This post is temporary until 31st March 2025; therefore, we are ideally looking for people who can start quickly.

The hours of work for this position is 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. There may be the occasional evening or weekend work required.

The successful applicant will be subject to a basic clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

A full current UK driving licence is desirable but not essential. We are looking for dynamic and inspirational Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our already established Residential Team at Bayview. You'll be working in one of our family feel children's homes in Heysham or rural North Lancaster, with a maximum of four young people per home.

Our service requires individuals who will help guide young people aged 8-18 with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties to success and who are dedicated to supporting our ethos. As well as this, you will support in providing a safe, secure, homely and positive environment for the children and young adults in the home so that their lives are progressively improved. All our homes are rated 'Outstanding' or 'Good' by Ofsted so as such we would need individuals to continue improving and developing the quality, image and reputation of the Home.

Some of the roles and responsibilities of this role are:
To drive a school vehicle and to be the escort in a school vehicle, for the collection of pupils from home to school (am) and from school to home (pm). The number of pupils in a vehicle can vary from 1-6.
To ensure the pupils have a safe and pleasant journey to/from school and arrive at the destination calm and settled.
To carry out daily/routine maintenance checks of the vehicle as required.
To ensure the interior of the vehicle is kept clean and tidy.
To ensure the first aid and spillage kits are replenished when items are used.
To report any pupil concerns immediately to the Head Teacher and using online reporting tools.
To use Positive Behaviour Support strategies to manage pupils’ behaviour.
To attend Driver/Escort meetings.
The hours for this role will be 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7.00am – 9.00am and 2.45pm – 5.45pm. You will also need to attend 5 inset days each year, which will be full training days.

The role
As a Vehicle Mechanic, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. With your skills and experience, you'll be undertaking the servicing, repair, maintenance and overhaul of vehicles and electrical equipment, including diagnostic and inspection duties. You'll also be carrying out equipment examination to meet production requirements.
