We are looking to recruit two Community Phlebotomist to expand our team working in the Community across Penzance and Bodmin hospitals. This position will be based at West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance.

The role is ideally suited for someone who is looking for a new challenging role.

Key duties and responsibilities

Working at Community diagnostic hubs in Cornwall and outreach clinics to take venous blood samples from patients as requested by a doctor or a member of the nursing staff and in accordance with written procedures.

To ensure that your responsibilities for the prevention of infection control are fulfilled by following all Trust policies, guidelines, and protocols.

To arrange delivery to the appropriate laboratories according to current Pathology policy.

To undertake first line tests on blood samples in accordance with written procedures.

To respect patient Confidentiality and Dignity.

At all times to work in accordance with the procedures and policies of the Trust, in particular Clinical Skills training package (Practice development) and Health and Safety.

To relate to the Lead Phlebotomist on a regular basis to keep up to date and receive regular training.

To provide sickness and holiday cover when needed at RCHT or Bodmin Community Hospital.

We are looking for a Facilities Supervisor to provide effective leadership to the Facilities staff within the Facilities Department and to be responsible for co-ordination of duties throughout the Department within an allocated area.

To organise the allocation of staff within the Department, so that all duties are covered by the flexible use of staff to ensure the smooth running of the service.

Areas of responsibility include Patient Dining and Retail Catering, Domestic Cleaning Services, Waste, Portering, Security, Switchboard, Linen and Post

Working pattern over a 2 week rota with alternate week-ends.

Enhanced hourly pay rates at week-ends equating to £15.75ph on Saturdays and £19.72ph on Sundays

To be instrumental in the development of quality initiatives and in ensuring excellent service provision and adherence to Trust policies and procedures. This post is a key link between the Facilities Site Manager for the further development of the service for both patients and staff. To liaise directly with the hospital wards and patients as part of the Department’s quality initiatives.

The Royal Cornwall Hospital is the main acute healthcare provider for the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly providing a full range of services accessed by more than 600,000 people a year. The Clinical Imaging Service is county wide offering patient’s high quality diagnostics in their local community hospital or specialist services at the Royal Cornwall, St Michaels and West Cornwall Hospitals.

We are looking for a self-motivated compassionate, caring, enthusiastic and hard-working individual to help and support the clinical staff within the Clinical Imaging Department.

Although based at West Cornwall Hospital in Penzance, the post-holder may be required to travel to other sites on an ad-hoc basis and therefore the ability to travel independently between sites and have unrestricted access to a motor vehicle insured for business purposes is required.

The Clinical Imaging Assistant will be required to undertake a very wide range of duties under the direct supervision of the Clinical Imaging staff and these will encompass clerical, patient care and the transportation of patients to all Imaging departments.

You will need to be an excellent communicator with good inter-personal skills, have a practical approach and mechanical aptitude. A good general education is necessary including basic IT skills. Previous experience working with patients or customers and basic clerical / keyboard skills and computer literacy are essential for the post. Previous experience as a carer would be desirable.

The Aubrey Williams Renal Unit is a 10 station satellite unit of the main/acute dialysis unit at Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske, Truro. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated staff nurse to join our team.

Haemodialysis skills are preferable but not essential as in house training, linked to renal competencies will be facilitated. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and enjoy working within a small busy team.

This is a full time post 37.5 hours per week.

To provide the highest standard of nursing care.

To plan, assess, implement and evaluate programmes of care for individual patients and to supervise other staff in this activity.

To ensure an ongoing welcoming, caring and safe environment is provided for the patient and their carers.

To act as an advocate for the patient and family, providing them with information and support and directing them to the relevant support services where appropriate.

To start planning discharges from admission, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, other departments and community services as necessary.

To develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide holistic, evidence based nursing care. This includes expanded role responsibilities, following appropriate training.

To be competent in the administration of medication
