We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Midwife at Homerton Healthcare.

The post holder will promote clinical trials at Homerton Healthcare, acting as a resource for Midwifery and Reproductive Health regarding current and future clinical trials. This will involve establishing study feasibility, pre- trial set up, recruitment of participants, education and monitoring of research patients and the collection and documentation of accurate data.

In this role you will be a member of the maternity research team under the Research and Innovations team at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. You will be working as a Band 6 Clinical Research Midwife. You will be responsible for assessing and managing the care pathways for patients and carers participating in research.

The post holder will be responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and close down clinical trials in accordance with local, national and international legislation. You will lead studies to assess patients’ suitability, ensuring informed consent is obtained; co-ordinate the logistics for patient visits and undertake patient assessments in accordance with study protocol. All data to be recorded, including adverse and serious adverse events, in accordance with ICH-GCP and local national and international legislation.

The aim of the role of the Band 7 Senior Research Midwife/Nurse is to manage and enhance the overall delivery of clinical research within the Trust by providing support and management to the existing Research team, by assisting with clinical and administrative activities related to clinical trials, from initiation to termination, in accordance with ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines.

• Monitor and evaluate the development of learning and teaching strategies for students with challenging behaviour and SEN, ensuring you recognise and fulfil your statutory responsibilities to pupils with SEN and understand the importance of taking ownership of additional provision and the progress children (with SEN) make in their class/teaching group.
• Disseminate good practice in challenging behaviour and SEN across the school.
• Identify resources needed to meet the needs of pupils with challenging behaviour and SEN and advise the Head of Centre of priorities for expenditure.
• Update the Head of Centre and Governors on the effectiveness of science studies for pupils with challenging behaviour and SEND.
• Develop and implement baseline assessments to ascertain starting points, progress and distance travelled, by using a tracking and monitoring system.
• Ensure all students make progress and engage in science, through practical experiments, as well as theoretical lessons.

The science team comprises nine full-time and four part-time science specialist teachers with responsibility for teaching Years 7 to 13. The department is led by the Director of Science, assisted by the Heads of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. There are 12 dedicated laboratories, 3 of which are part of a new build with an additional classroom space in the new block. The standard of equipment and resources is very high. All full-time members of the department have lessons timetabled in their own laboratory and work with a dedicated technician. There are five part-time technicians.
