About the vacancy:

Highly motivated candidates are invited to apply for a four-year post-doctoral position to conduct research on a BBSRC-funded project entitled “Bac-chat: Bacterial density-dependent quorum sensing mechanisms in Acute Oak Decline symptom development”. This is an exciting opportunity to identify the chemical signalling molecules responsible for communication and interaction between AOD bacteria, to determine how they influence lesion development, and if they play a role in the potential shift from an endophytic to pathogenic lifestyle. The successful candidate will join an expanding research group dedicated to tree health, and also assist in the daily running of the lab and supervision of current and new PhD students.

About you:

Applicants will have a PhD in molecular microbiology or related field of study and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in research methods and techniques to fulfil the project objectives. Previous experience of either bacterial transformation and mutagenesis, confocal microscopy, next generation sequencing and data analysis is desirable. The successful candidate should have an excellent track record commensurate with their career stage, ideally including contributions to published work.

Senior Clinical Fellow in Emergency Medicine (ST4+) –80:20Research

The senior clinical fellow posts include 80% time working in the adult emergency department and 20% paid time to develop in a specialist interest of the successful candidate’s choice. The posts are open as OOPT/E for EM HSTs and as stand-alone posts for non-trainees, and can be 100% EM if required. We are also open to SAS and Specialty Doctors if that suits.

The posts provide an ideal opportunity for the successful candidates to develop their own specialist interests while working in a busy inner city university hospital, with teaching and research responsibilities and are based in the adult side of the department.

Applicants should hold a relevant postgraduate qualification (MRCEM, MRCP, MRCS, FRCA or equivalent), and should be ST4 + or equivalent, having completed a minimum of 3 years in approved SHO posts (Post Foundation Medicine) or equivalent in relevant acute specialities including at least 1 year in Emergency Medicine.

The post will be a combination of service provision including out of hours and paid time to develop a specialist interest. The candidate to combine a job in Emergency Medicine with a 20% time allowance for a specialist interest. Specialist interests may include but are not limited to education (SIM/FOAMed), global health, expedition medicine, leadership and management, advanced airway management, research (with Professor Jonathon Benger), ultrasound, resuscitation, toxicology and paediatrics. Your new role
In your new role at this GOOD South Warwickshire school, you will be teaching science to KS3 and KS4 students in typical class sizes of 20-30 students. This is a full-time job, working on a supply basis. You will need to contribute to the safeguarding, welfare and personal care of students, acting as an effective role model. By ensuring this, you will contribute to the mission and values of the school. As this job is to work on a supply basis, you will not be required to carry out full teaching responsibilities. However, it would be preferred, should the school require you to do so at times. This would include planning and delivering engaging lessons and marking work. There is also a potential for this job to become a permanent position.

What you'll need to succeed
You will need to be a qualified teacher, with experience of teaching science to KS3 and KS4 students. By acting as a team player, as well as a leader, you will inspire those around you to succeed. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and adaptable full time Science Technician to work Term Time only plus 15 days. You will be working as part of the Science team based at Patchway Community School, you will be expected to provide specialist support to teaching staff, including in-class support with student activities and to work without direct supervision as agreed with the Curriculum Team Leader for Science. You will have a relevant vocational or academic qualification or practical experience in a Science related activity. ICT skills are essential. We are looking for someone who is organised, flexible and enjoys working in a practical environment.
The post holder may also from time to time be asked to help Technicians from other departments.
