About the Role
The College of Science and Engineering is seeking an Associate Lecturer or Lecturer in Computer Science, to join the talented academic staff at Flinders University. As a Teaching Specialist you will focus on teaching and teaching-related activities which involve the creation, delivery, and continuous quality improvement of university-level education.
As the Associate Lecturer/Lecturer, you will be accountable for contributing to excellence in teaching and learning across the suite of computing related topics within the Computing and Mathematical Sciences Teaching Program.
You will be required to contribute to teaching and the scholarship of teaching using innovations in teaching practices and technologies, that will enhance the student experience. Other responsibilities of the role may include curriculum design and review, contributing towards maintaining internal and external compliance and accreditation of courses and utilising advancements in education technologies.
About You
Candidates will be determined to be suitable for Level A or Level B positions depending on their relevant experience. The successful candidate for a lecturer position in Computer Science will demonstrate:
As the Associate Lecturer in Computer Science, you will have:
- Satisfactory completion of a four-year tertiary qualification in an area of computing.
- Completion of, or significant progress towards a PhD in an area of computing.
- Experience teaching a range of introductory and intermediate level computing related topics in a tertiary environment.
- Demonstrated evidence of contributing to teaching and the scholarship of teaching at the discipline level, including involvement in curriculum development and teaching methodology.
As the Lecturer in Computer Science, you will have:
- Completion of a PhD in a computing related area.
- Teaching and learning experience at a tertiary level to a high standard in a range of computing areas, at a variety of levels and with varying class sizes.
- A demonstrated understanding of pedagogical frameworks in the delivery of teaching with a deep appreciation of the nexus between teaching and learning, research, and scholarship.
- Evidence of the use of learning and teaching approaches which enhance student success including but not limited to a good understanding of appropriate assessment techniques and student feedback.
