An exciting new opportunity has arisen within our Quality Assurance department for a Technical Manager, in the Quality Standards & Data team. This role reports to one of our Technical Controllers
This role has four key aspects: provide technical support and manage the provision of technical data solutions to our foodservice and national account customers; manage the documented quality system, delivering an internal auditing programme; establish, manage and report on compliance monitoring activities, ensuring all product surveillance testing and supplier assessment programmes are maintained and are operating effectively; be aware of all food safety and regulatory aspects and be able to provide detailed support and project management across ad-hoc technical projects.
We are looking for an experienced Technical Manager who has in previous roles supported Technical teams with all aspects of food quality & safety management and legislation advice.
You will be responsible:
Coordinating technical product standards and policy updates, encompassing updated legislation requirements
Managing the documented quality system, ensuring appropriate updates are captured and trained out across the team
Maintenance of our technical and specification due-diligence portal (ORBC), ensuring glossaries and document libraries are kept updated and data entry is compliant with our requirements.
Monitoring both internal and supplier compliance against technical policies and standards
Ensuring effective CAPA programmes are in place and are closed out within agreed timeframes
Working closely with foodservice and national account customers to agree and implement workable technical data provision solutions
Supporting the wider technical and product teams in ensuring compliance with all appropriate policies and be part of the work team when any challenges may arise in these areas
Demonstratable experience of a similar role in food quality & safety with a focus on legislation
Strong knowledge of microbiological & chemical analysis and associated testing criteria across a wide range of ambient/chilled and frozen food categories.
An expert in food labelling requirements and have practical experience working with customer data/specification portals, which manage such product data exchange.
This role involves managing large pools of data, advanced Excel data management skills are essential.
You will have excellent communication and analytical skills, an eye for detail, a desire to ensure exacting product and operational standards are maintained, and a proven track record of forging strong and productive relationships at all levels.
You should have a keen interest in current and emerging food legislation and policy initiatives.
You will be able to demonstrate the ability to work without close supervision, prioritisation of your work and be comfortable communicating at all business levels to internal and external stakeholders.
You will need to possess a UK driving licence and your own car for this role and be comfortable travelling to group offices in the UK as well as suppliers and customers across the UK. This is a hybrid role, with 3 days on site and 2 days home-working after successful completion of training and probationary periods
