The IPC team are really pleased to be recruiting into this new developmental Band 5 role. Previous IPC experience is not essential, but the applicant should show a strong interest in infection prevention.
The development of the successful candidate will include formal learning in areas where IPC has an input i.e. water safety, decontamination, outbreak management, IPC courses up to master’s level. All of this would be under the guidance and support of the IPC team.
This is a new role which will involve working closely with all members of our team, inpatient units in our community hospitals and mental health units. This presents the opportunity for the successful applicant to develop relationships that will promote the importance of IPC in every aspect of patient care. The successful applicant will be supported to develop that of the band 5 role within IPC team.
They should also have experience working as a band 5 health care professional have excellent inter-personal skills and act as a role model to inspire others. We are a small team, made up of nursing and admin staff who are passionate about infection prevention and control and place safe, personal, and effective care at the heart of everything we do.
The role will also involve supporting the IPC team and inpatient areas during outbreak situations which will involve visiting the wards.
The applicant must have own transport as they will be expected to travel between sites during the working day, sometimes at short notice
To work effectively with support as an independent practitioner or member of the Infection Prevention Nursing Team providing infection prevention advice for patients, staff, and visitors.
Support and advise the Multi-professional Team with the support of senior staff members on Infection Prevention and Control precautions following review of specific patients and for general situations using knowledge and referring to Senior Colleagues for further advice if needed.
To assist in implementing and monitoring Trust Infection Control Guidelines and Policies working closely with Clinical Staff to ensure that guidelines are understood and adhered to.
Work alongside staff in clinical areas to ensure compliance with infection prevention policies and practices and escalate noncompliance to Senior Colleagues.
Assist in monitoring, evaluating, and updating IPC measures based upon current evidence-based national standards, and provide feedback following audit to relevant staff.
To provide a high quality person centred approach to care delivery which always considers people’s safety, privacy and dignity.
To provide specialist advice, support, supervision and continuous professional development activities.
To plan, implement and review evidence based improvement programmes in a range of settings to drive continuous quality improvement in the delivery of high quality and safe care for patients and service users.
