The Intermediate Care Technician is an occupational specialty, especially for former military combat medics, medical technicians, and corpsmen.

As an ICT, you will operate within clearly defined clinical competencies. Major Duties: These positions lead a trail crew in the construction, repair, and maintenance of drainage structures, brushing and clearing of trail corridors, safe felling of tress and hazard tress, dry masonry, carpentry, and rigging. Lead trail crews in building and repairing log and dimensional wood structures including multiple stringer bridges, retaining walls, handrails, steps, and causeways. Plan, lay-out, and select proper tools and materials and schedule the operational needs of a crew. These positions require heavy physical labor, carrying heavy objects, rolling rocks and logs by hand and with tools. These positions require working in the backcountry, carrying a backpack, power or hand tools and frequently require hikes up to 20 miles per day. Projects are in mountainous terrain and require work at high elevations.

Physical Effort: Heavy physical effort is required in bending, lifting, and using hand and power tools in trail work. As examples of typical strenuous activity, incumbent: Frequently lifts and carries objects weighing over 100 lbs., must carry and roll rocks and logs, move rocks of several tons with rock bars, use hammers to crush or shape rock, and use shovel and other hand tools extensively. Frequently hikes up to 20 miles daily and must be able to do so while carrying a backpack, power and/or hand tools.

Working Conditions: Incumbent must have the ability to live and work effectively in backcountry areas in close contact with small numbers of people for extended periods of time. Incumbent must live and work out-of-doors on projects in mountainous terrain at elevations between 8,000 and 13,000 feet in all extremes of adverse weather conditions. The incumbent primarily assists in maintenance and construction of graded and paved trails, trail drainage, trail bridges, and guard rails. Project Management:

Contract Administration:
May serve as the designated Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR) for national and local contracts or be responsible for coordinating the security clearance process for all contractors through the National Background Investigation Center (NBIC).
Monitors contract performance and assure that the Contractor performs the contract in accordance with its terms, conditions and the performance work statement. Record and notify the Contracting Officer of incidents of faulty or nonconforming work, delays or problems and recommend correction actions. Contacts remote customers to determine if contractor delivered goods or services timely and accurately.
May be responsible for enforcing the provisions of an IRS-awarded lease following occupancy of the facility and may be designated as the sub-COTR. In this capacity, the incumbent is a lease administrator who handles any lease issues that arise and enforces lease requirements short of taking any action required by the Contracting Officer. This may include sending reminder notices of work to be done, requests for corrective action for lease deficiencies, and development of "cure" letters for the Contracting Officer's signature. May also be responsible at IRS leased sites to coordinate background investigations with the lessor and/or GSA to ensure compliance with HSPD-12 (Homeland Security Presidential Directive #12) requirements.
