Security Team leader at Southside Shopping Centre

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

is looking to appoint an experienced security Team Leader to maintain a safe and secure shopping environment and lead the security team. The focus of this role will be to deliver excellence through establishing and enforcing robust security policies and procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-Ability to work as part of a team and independently

-Strong communication skills both written and verbal

-Leading the team with the overseeing the day to day running of the whole operation (security, cleaning, waste management).

-To ensure that all personnel understand the scope of their individual roles with particular emphasis on delivering a professional customer service

-Excellent time management and incident management

-Make sure that all relevant daily/weekly/monthly checks have been completed and registered.

-Smart, well-groomed, and confident

-High level of attention to detail

-Conflict Management aware, investigating/documenting incidents

-Liaising with brand partners, coordinating and assisting with requests and concerns

-High level of customer care awareness and support best guest experience

-Writing reports, managing day-to-day rota, managing control room & incidents

-Holding team huddles at least ones a week

-Induction of new staff members, making sure all site AI's are read and signed by the team members, toolbox Talks are being read and signed for,

-Confident in complying with Health & Safety and fire prevention procedures

-Follow DSSM instruction and working closely with Senior Cleaning Supervisor

-dealing with contractors, Permits to Work and Risk Wise system, contractor monitoring and their access control

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

-SIA DS and CCTV License

-IT literate

Training

-Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.

-To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development as directed by the Security Account Manager.

-Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge and expertise through continual professional development.

-You are required to ensure you renew your licence 16 weeks before expiry.

Security and Health & Safety

-Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.

-Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.

-Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.

-To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.

-Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.

-Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.

-To ensure check calls are being carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions (AI's).

-To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.

What we are looking for

Job Overview

-To protect our customer's property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI's) and any subsequent changes.

-Delivering results that meet and / or exceed the Key Performance Indicators / Service Level Agreement for the customer through full responsibility and accountability, providing a service that aids in the retention of the contract.

-To undertake additional training to ensure continuous self-development.

-Working a 7/3/7/4 shift pattern (days, nights & weekends). Twelve hour shifts (07.00 - 19.00 & 19.00 - 07.00).

-Average 56hrs per week.

-Pay rate is £18.81 per hour. Annual equivalent salary = £54,774.72. Position is also subject to a shift allowance (£10.74 per shift) following successful completion of Critical Incident Management training.

-A Communication Assessment will also need to be passed prior to working in the Control Room.

Main Duties

-To be responsible for the day-to-day operation of security, including the daily tasking & monitoring of the team.

-Be the first point of contact for the security team and deal with day-to-day matters such as standards of dress, discipline and conduct are met and adhered to.

-Assist in on-going training to resident security teams and ensure all new Security Officers are fully trained and inducted to the site procedures and policies including CCTV, access control systems, deliveries and removals, fire alarms and intruder alarms.

-Develop teamwork within the workforce, ensuring high morale through effective motivational methods.

-Assist in review of Security Officers' performance and development.

-Dealing with any security / equipment investigations, i.e. thefts, missing items, complaints etc. & writing correct & accurate reports of the incidents, in a timely fashion.

-Provide customer / client liaison as and when required.

-First stage HR/disciplinary accountability.

-Completing return to work interviews & welfare meetings with members of the team.

-Maintenance of site rosters and ensuring that all positions are covered by appropriately trained staff.

-Ensure Assignment Instructions are adhered to at all times by security personnel.

-Ensure that any important messages are conveyed in the security handover and that all security personnel read and acknowledge them.

-Ensuring security records and logs are being kept up to date.

-Ensure the security team are compliant with all relevant legislation on data protection.

-To take the lead on all incident management.

What we are looking for:

-Previous security experience in a managerial/operational role.

-SIA Licence (SG or DS) & CCTV (PSS) licence.

-CTC cleared prior to starting work (part of application process). Minimum 3 years residency criteria.

-Good literacy and communication skills and have excellent verbal and written English.

-Be computer and software literate.

-Reliability, self- motivation and ability to use own initiative and work without supervision.

-The ability to solve problems, make decisions and prioritise.

-The ability to transfer self-motivation to staff.

-The ability, tact and diplomacy to deal with people at all levels.

-Self-confidence and an interest in self-development.

-An interest in the continuous improvement of the Company's performance.

-The nature of the role is such that it is essential that the post holder has and will maintain an excellent record of attendance and timekeeping.
