My Client, a holding company with diversified businesses is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their legal team. Core function for this role is in the area of private property development and investment arm. You should have been called to Bar and bring with you experience in Compliance and Data Protection.
Reporting to the Head of Legal, you are responsible for :-
- Assume the official roles of “Data Protection Officer” and “Compliance Officer” ensuring compliance with “PDPA and **AML/CFT provisions for the Company and its subsidiaries (“Company Group).
- Supervise and provide legal oversight of:
- leasing and sales administration work and
- real estate transaction in respect of properties to be acquired or developed and/or owned by
the Company Group and proactive solutions and strategies to mitigate potential legal risk
while meeting the objectives of Company Group
- Be the main point of contact to provide day-to-day legal and compliance support within Company Group.
You will play a central role to establish, update and enforce, a robust framework of reporting & compliance with “PDPA and **AML/CFT provisions which include:
- Company’s policies and procedures, primarily in the areas of data protection, privacy and anti-money laundering and countering of terrorist financing legislations. This require candidate to stay abreast of real estate laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure the company’s activities are compliant.
- Oversee due diligence processes for real estate transactions which include provide legal analysis and recommendations for compliance with AML/EFT provisions and other relevant applicable legislations; and
- Provide legal training and workshops to other employees to enhance their understanding of legal requirements and risk management.
- Negotiate, review, draft and prepare legal documents, such as options, sale agreements, letters of offer, leases, subleases, licenses and financing documents across Company Group’s entire real estate portfolio.
- Engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders and service providers. These include senior management, joint venture parties, regulators and external counsels.
- Excellent organizational & communication skills and able to work independently and collaboratively on a broad variety of matters from the complex matters to the routine standard matters
You should have :-
- Degree in Law and called to Bar
- Knowledge and experience in Real Estate, JV, Banking and finance agreement would be an added advantage
- Team player and able to work with all level of people
- Possess good interpersonal and writing skills
- Multi-tasking
