As a Program Manager, you will:

• Direct a segment of complex professional, scientific, engineering, administrative, technical and/or support programs and develop work plans based on external trends and events.
• Develop and promulgate short- and long-range program plans/strategies and policy guidance, including resource levels and program priorities, overall requirements, schedules, milestones, and reporting.
• Make decisions that demonstrate technical credibility and may be complicated by political, economic, or social changes, as well as by legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee all personnel actions for all subordinate employees, and/or has the authority to manage the development of policy in response to changes in legislation, executive orders, or appropriations; manages organizational change including major changes to the structure and content of the program or program segments managed; and approves the allocation and distribution of funds.
• Initiate and maintain regular and recurring contacts with high-ranking civilian or military supervisors and senior management officials in NNSA headquarters and administrative staffs.

As a Nuclear Materials Courier, you will

• Serve as a member of a highly specialized armed protective force that is responsible for the safe and secure transportation of classified and/or hazardous materials including nuclear weapons, components, test assemblies, and strategic quantities of weapons-grade special nuclear materials. This involves the operation of Government-owned motor vehicles, including tractor-trailers.
• Integrate many processes and methods in the fields of security; health and safety; emergency management; and law enforcement, including tactical operations to respond to a multitude of possible natural and/or man-made threats to the safety and security of sensitive, dangerous, and extremely valuable cargo.
• Respond quickly and effectively to environmental, resource, and safety and security issues that may arise unexpectedly during mission operations.
• Participate in security planning prior to trip departures; assess multiple issues and factors related to shipment security during convoy operations; coordinate with other Federal, state or local law enforcement agencies and first responders concerning the investigation of potential criminal or terrorist acts or activities that could be considered a threat to the mission.
• Be armed to provide the force necessary, up to and including the use of deadly force, to prevent theft, sabotage or takeover by unauthorized persons or groups.

As a General Engineer/Physical Scientist you will:

• Provides leadership, direction, and program oversight of the design and construction activities for projects within Vehicles Systems Branch.
• Oversees and directs the design and construction of exceptionally difficult and complex mission critical projects to ensure that projects meet design requirements and are constructed in accordance with approved designs.
• These projects include next generation vehicles and trailers used to perform critical national security missions.
• Applies expert knowledge of engineering concepts and practices applicable to vehicle manufacturing, communication systems, and OST operational requirements.
• Resolves controversial, unprecedented, and/or significant issues with existing vehicles and trailers.
• Provides authoritative recommendations to address engineering concerns with vehicle and trailer platforms
• Acts as Senior Engineering Duty Advisor and on a rotating basis - provides support to Mission Operations which can occur uninterrupted 24/7

As a Supervisory General Engineer/Physical Scientist (Assistant Manager for Operations) you will:

• Serve as the Assistant Manager for Operations (AMO) responsible for performance direction, day-to-day oversight and contract administration activities in support of the Operations programs at Sandia National Laboratories (SNL).
• Manages safety oversight of multiple aspects of SNL operations, including evaluation of operations involving hazards such as nanotechnology, nuclear, chemical, pulsed power, mechanical, electrical, biological and explosive.
• Responsible for program management, technical monitoring, providing advice and conducting evaluations of all aspects of operations of facilities.
• Manages quality assurance oversight of Sandia National Laboratories (SNL's) weapons and non-weapons programs.
• Production operations involve the oversight of SNL manufacture of state-of the-art electronics, explosives, and electro-mechanical components both internal to Sandia and at external Sandia suppliers.
• Serves as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and manages technical subject matter experts for multiple functional areas.
