About the Role
Our Distribution Control Centre North (DCCN) is responsible for the management and control of SHEPD's high voltage distribution system. Due to our continued growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Coordinator to join our team in Perth. There is the opportunity for the right applicant to develop their engineering career within the Control Room environment.
The key duties & responsibilities will be:
- As a member of our Commissioning team you would be responsible for a wide range of operational duties, primarily the cartographic maintenance of the DCCN's network management systems.
- You will also be responsible for the configuration and commissioning of primary and secondary remotely controlled equipment, enabling delivery of a safe and reliable interface for 24/7 Distribution system operations and safety.
- You will work closely with our team of Control Engineers and the regional operational staff, as well as our colleagues in Operational Technology. The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships is critical to ongoing success in this role.
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- A knowledge of Power Systems, coupled with previous technical experience, and an understanding of SCADA application would be an advantage however full training will be provided.
- An excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritise flexible deadlines while maintaining high levels of excellence.
- An analytical/methodical approach to problem solving and the ability to work effectively when faced with pressurised situations.
- Due to the real time nature of the control room's operational business model, candidates must offer a flexible and committed attitude, an eye for detail, a high level of personal resilience and possess strong problem solving abilities.
- The ability to learn new systems quickly would be an advantage as a range of bespoke software and technical applications are used within this role.
