Currently dispensing around 9000 items per month, this is a relatively busy branch. As well as providing a variety of services, this branch also utilises our Medipac robotic distribution technology. This frees up your time to provide the care our patients deserve.

• Determines when patient education is required and refers Veterans to appropriate Clinician for training.
• Assists visitors and callers with the completion of forms and documents necessary to provide the prosthetic items.

• Incumbent manages the Clinicians training schedules.

• Provide lower extremity orthotic interventions including evaluations, cast impressions for fabrication, fittings, and modifications.
• Provide a full range of direct pediatric physical therapy procedures, diagnostics, and treatment services for the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) in the neonatal intensive care unit.
• Evaluate referred clients for diagnosis, treatment planning and to determine current levels of function.
• Utilize pediatric specialty techniques to manage clients, birth to 36 months, with complex mild to severe physical, developmental, neurologic, learning, and behavioral impairments.
• Provide direct and skilled, clinic-based physical therapy interventions on an outpatient and inpatient basis.
• Coordinate clients’ physical therapy schedule to ensure quality of care.
• Analyze, refine programs and develop new approaches and programs within the specialty area and monitors evaluation and treatment practices.
• Conduct multiple functional area assessments to include but limited to gross/fine motor skills, reflex maturation, gait and ambulation, muscle strength, joint range of motion, self-care skills and activities of daily living, visual/motor skills.

Medication management:

Reads and interprets prescriptions, obtains proper medication or material in the proper strength and dosage form; determines proper amount and counts, pours, or measures the medications; affixes proper label; and records required data on electronically or via the Pharmacy's copy of prescription/order.

Inventories replenished emergency carts without a second view. Collects drug use evaluation data for quality improvements purposes.

Identifies basic therapeutic problems such as duplicate therapy with drugs in the same class and alerts the pharmacist to the possible need for clinical intervention.

Maintains, verifies, stocks and replaces outdates in patient care area automated dispensing machines.

Properly handles medications by ensuring high alert, hazardous, refrigerated and controlled substance medications are handled/stored appropriately and legally.

Assists in training for lower graded technicians and technician students.

After prescription/order(s) are reviewed by a pharmacist for therapeutic propriety, reviews orders for technical accuracy and converts the order, if necessary, so that the item dispensed corresponds to the drug and dose ordered.

Serves as a patient advocate providing accurate and timely clinical information to third-party payers.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Performs Healthcare Planning/Design Management: provides a broad review of all disciplines of Engineering when applied to a healthcare environment to support construction document reviews and preparation; plays an essential role in resolving conflicts in designs and in the construction field to reduce and prevent large cost and time impacts for projects while ensuring the project VA standards and adopted codes; performs evaluations on medical care programs and services to ensure assigned projects are aligned

The PACT (Patient Aligned Care Team) Registered Nurse Care Manager demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. The nurse collaborates with the Core Team (Patient, Primary Care provider, PACT/RN Care Manager, PACT LPN and Medical Support Assistant) and Expanded Team (family/caregiver, internal and community based services in providing care to the patient) in developing the patient driven holistic care plan for life.
