Job Purpose

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will play a pivotal role in the Group’s leadership team. They will provide vision, professional leadership and strategic direction to achieve the Group’s aims and improvements in quality, efficiency and effectiveness.



The CIO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. They will be the lead expert responsible for delivery of the digital agenda within the Group, leading the use and adoption of new digital technologies and approaches including AI, deploying clinical benefits to gain productivity, enhance the working lives of colleagues and deliver improved patient experience. They will be able to work collaboratively with multi-professional clinical teams and administrative teams across all sites that make up the CCS and NCH&C Group model.

• Identify and effectively manage information governance related risks and information and cyber security issues, communicating the importance of this across the Group and engendering a collective responsibility.
• Ensure that the Group's digital related policies (including information risk management, cyber security, and business continuity) are contemporary and compliant with relevant regulation and guidance.
• Provide expert advice to the Chief Executive and the Group Board relating to Digital and Information issues, in particular highlighting both potential risks and opportunities for improving patient care and safety and Group performance.
• Ensure that digital initiatives are fully integrated with annual planning processes.

Digital Transformation and Innovation
• Responsible for the development and delivery of a Group Digital Transformation vision and strategy which also promotes digital skills and digital inclusion, ensuring it is aligned with the Trust’s strategic direction.
• In collaboration with executive colleagues, drive reform and support organisational change, fostering innovation and excellence.
• Manage the ongoing development of access to data for research, maintaining the highest standards of security and confidentiality.
• Participate in national initiatives and forums to raise the profile and reputation of the Group as a digital exemplar and to influence policy and funding allocations for the benefit of the Group, its health and care partners and patients.

• Lead the Trust’s information risk strategy and policy, ensuring exceptional data safety and compliance with relevant regulations.
• To lead at Board level the Trust’s Statement of Internal Control as it relates to information risk.

Directorate Responsibilities


• Lead and manage the directorate, ensuring exemplary leadership, development and achievement of the annual objectives for the directorate.
• Be an authorised signatory at director level and be responsible for the budget for the directorate.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Director, Commercial Credit, you will manage a major segment of risk rated credits from Commercial Banking in Western Canada. • Drive sales of BMO ETFs in conjunction with a cohort of RSM’s to meet and exceed annual plan targets
• Foster a sales culture of goal achievement and superior customer satisfaction;

Relationship Management

• Create and manage advisor relationships within the assigned region to ensure optimum representation of BMO ETF solution set and products.
• Develop a database of qualified financial intermediaries within the region who have the potential to sell BMO ETF products.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with third party referral sources (i.e. brokers/dealers) to maximize BMO ETF market presence and increase our market share.
• Provide subject matter expertise to the senior sales management team on market conditions and trends to maintain a high level of environmental awareness.
• Ensure a thorough understanding of competitor activities to identify potential opportunities and threats.

Planning & Strategy

• Implement the national sales plan within the geographic sales region including preparation and implementation of an annual territory business plan including promotional budget, to meet annual growth and retention targets.

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures by identifying potential gaps and providing input and recommendations on Product launches and initiatives.

Capital Markets and Direct Financial Services provides integrated services and products aimed at serving investors as well as corporate and institutional clients globally. The Capital Markets business is a recognized leader in the industry specializing in investment banking advisory services, corporate lending and research. In addition, the Direct Financial Services arm provides alternate services and solutions such  as direct investing, direct banking and unique international payment solutions. The successful applicant will provide Business Management support to Global Markets and Direct Financial Services (GM & DFS). The role will act as a liaison between the businesses (front office) and the rest of the Bank to ensure all business strategies, initiatives, projects, operational issues are addressed and resolved. The role will work and support the Head of GM & DFS.

The incumbent will be the primary individual responsible for Business Management functions across the Global Markets & DFS business. The incumbent will have a number of direct reports that will be responsible for business management support across their respective portfolios. The incumbent will be responsible for working with and supporting the priorities of the Head of Global Markets and DFS.  Business Management liaises with the businesses (front office) and across CIBC to ensure all business strategies & initiatives, projects, and regulatory & compliance issues, are addressed and resolved. How You’ll Succeed

• Strategic & Business Planning -Support and contribute to strategic and business planning, supporting GM & DFS Business Managers and Head of GM & DFS; Partner with infrastructure groups to implement/execute strategic and business plans; Project manage new initiatives, including Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs).

Specifically ensure effective and documented internal controls are in place and evidenced by policies and procedures specific to the individual business activities. Oversee governance and compliance functions/issues on behalf of the GM & DFS business, including - Ensure compliance with Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs) with respect to new initiatives; Support execution of new contracts and agreements with vendors and partners in collaboration with Corporate Services, Legal, and other internal stakeholders; Accountable to ensure the completion of all GM & DFS governance functions –User System Access, Contract Review, etc.; Oversight of the Business Continuity Management plans and milestones as Accountable Officer for GM & DFS; Support GM & DFS business management team, front office and internal partners in the implementation of new compliance and governance requirements; Management, oversight of audits and related follow-up items including coordinating and responding to auditor/regulator requests, findings and reports; Working with Capital Markets Governance & Control teams to ensure suitable and effective controls are in place and help manage and support the coordination of the deficiency management process across GM & DFS;

• Finance/MIS - Work with business, Business Managers and/or Finance Business Support to develop. Management and Board Presentations; Quarterly Operational Risk Dashboard and analysis; and other presentations.

• Cross-Functional Relationships - Strong interpersonal and communication skills allowing the incumbent to work alongside the business, including Head of GM & DFS, on a day-to-day basis; Establish and maintain effective relationships with partners in CIBC, including, Operations, Finance, Risk Management, Technology, Legal and Compliance and other corporate governance groups as required to help address and resolve day-to-day issues as well as deliver on business initiatives; and Maintain regular dialogue with regional business managers and their teams as required on global initiatives and issues.

Who You Are

• You possess knowledge of Financial Products (products and processes) with a minimum of 10 years of working experience in the Financial Services industry is an asset;

• You have university degree in Business Management/Accounting Designation. CA, CMA, CGA, or equivalent, is preferred;

The U.S. Consumer business at Bank of Montreal has been transformed with the recent acquisition of Bank of the West. We are now on a multi year journey to modernize and scale the US Consumer business with an aspiration to significantly grow over the next few years. We are seeking a Managing Director to join the U.S. Consumer Risk team. This is people leadership position within the 2nd line of defense, which will report into the Head of U.S. Consumer Risk and will be responsible for providing independent risk oversight over the various lines of businesses. The incumbent should be a strategic thinker with sound business acumen and a passion for using advanced data and analytics to make business decisions. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to continue evolving the risk management framework, 2nd line control and oversight processes and discipline around consumer lending as BMO pivots towards a Category 3 bank in US. The incumbent will work closely with heads of the businesses and staff groups to fulfill the growth vision and ensure adequate controls are in place to meet the risk appetite for the business. Specific responsibilities include:

• Provides independent risk oversight of the consumer lending businesses in U.S. P&BB, ensuring credit risks are appropriately and prudently managed within the risk tolerance for this business.

• Ensures the quality, performance, and credit risk profile of the U.S. P&BB retail portfolio are monitored and reported to Senior Executive, management committees, and RMC on a timely basis.

• Provides transparency and insight into the bank’s risk appetite to enable the business unit to understand and optimize risk return trade-offs within enterprise risk tolerances, while reinforcing the principle that business units are accountable for all their risks.

• Presents value-added risk context, oversight of credit risk systems, models, scorecards, credit exception underwriting, return on capital risk assessments to support strategic business planning and new product development risk assessment.

• Acts as the risk stripe owner for consumer credit risk in the U.S. and provides the required leadership and strategic direction. Executing within the constraints defined in Corporate Policies and Corporate Standards, approves, and recommends scorecards, approves credit underwriting exceptions for all consumer credit transactions for U.S. P&BB, approves and recommends automated adjudication, and approval of new products or processes related to consumer lending.

• Ensures Bank’s credit risk taking policies, authority structures, procedures and processes are adhered to through direct involvement in credit transaction authorizations and portfolio management processes.

• Directs the development and implementation of proper quantitative reporting and analytic tools and processes across all U.S. Consumer loan portfolios. Leads, synthesizes, and communicates the analysis of data to proactively identify and understand the drivers of portfolio risk, and forecast portfolio performance.

• Works with key executives within ERPM, and the U.S. P&BB Consumer/Wealth Management line of business, to direct the quality, performance, and respective credit risk profile of this significant business segment. Interfaces closely with other consumer credit risk roles within ERPM. Serves as primary point of contact for the line of business in all related product initiatives and discussions pertaining to setting the optimal risk appetite by providing independent risk oversight and ensuring that growth initiatives are optimized for profitability; both risk and return.

We are seeking a hands-on Associate Director for the Risk Reporting Management (“RRM”) Team without our T&O Risk and Internal Controls (“T&O RIC”) unit.  T&O RIC reinforces the bank’s “1st line of defense” by providing controls and oversight for Technology and Operations in support of all pillars of the bank. T&O RIC is responsible for T&O’s Governance, Risk, Compliance, and Testing (GRCT/1b) operating model and targeted Controls Processing activities, including Reconciliations, Logical Access provisioning and Quality Testing plus risk-related executive reporting. RRM is responsible for providing T&O RIC and T&O with analysis, support, and risk reporting.  This person will lead a small team in RRM that will play a key role in the development of key risk reports for T&O.

This role will be responsible for working with data to build connections, analyze and work with the team to Identifies trends and patterns to address identified business questions and provide insights through reporting and data visualization techniques. This role is Hands on 70% of the time. The role may also consist of designing dashboards and analyses to be performed, and appropriate visualization and analytics tools to use.  They will work with other data and analytics professionals to optimize, refine, automate and scale analysis into repeatable analytics solutions and decision support tools. Also, build various reporting dashboards using the most appropriate data extraction, data cleaning and data visualisation techniques.  Other key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
