The University of Central Lancashire wishes to recruit a Finance Operations Manager (Payroll, Pensions & Travel) as part the Financial Operations team in Financial Services. This will be part of the Financial Operations Management team which includes Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Banking & Treasury and responsibility for all financial and transactional operations, activities and systems.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of team management and managing workloads, activities and completing tasks to required deadlines. Substantial knowledge and experience of managing multiple payroll and pensions activities and routines is required alongside a detailed knowledge of all current legislation. The role will also manage the coordination of all business travel arrangements for individual, group and complex itineraries including all associated payments and expenses. Candidates should also have experience of working with third party agencies and in-depth knowledge of best practices across the payroll, pensions and travel industries.

This is a varied and exciting role which requires a hands on approach to support all areas of the team and wider Financial Operations objectives. The successful candidate will need to hold the CIPP Diploma in Payroll Management and preferably be AAT qualified or hold an equivalent business or finance field such as Chartered Institute of Credit Management. Candidates will also need to have five GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C/Grade 4 (or equivalent) including English and Maths. A customer service qualification or project management skills are also desirable for this role. Extensive experience and use of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are also required.

Job Purpose

You will take responsibility for our finance teams and performance monitoring team developing the plans necessary to deliver excellent services to our residents. Your new company
A world leading manufacturer and distribution business based from Blackburn are looking to recruit an experienced Finance Manager to join their team on a permanent basis, due to upcoming retirement. This business has European headquarters, however still has a small operation from Blackburn.

Your new role
In your new role as Finance Manager, will be expected to manage the entirety of the accounting functions, prepare financial reports, make journal entries, review and maintain general ledger, ensure credit collection and supplier payments, and reconcile bank accounts as well as run the HR administrative functions of the company. You will have full responsibility for all transactional finance functions including AR & AP and credit control. You will be responsible for all month and year end requirements, balance sheet reconciliations, supervisions of inventory counts and work closely with board members across the UK & Europe. You will enjoy working in a hands-on role, variety in the job duties performed and making a difference in a stable place to call a long-term home. This role is full time, based from the office working 8:30am-5:00pm.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful for this role, you will be Qualified by experience or working towards your financial qualifications. You will have worked in a similar role previously and have experience working in a standalone finance position, confident in all areas of transactional accounts and up to trial balance. A strong working knowledge of Excel is essential.

The Role

As Head of Finance, you will be responsible for the financial management and statutory reporting requirements of the organisation, including but not limited to:

- Development and implementation of a comprehensive financial strategy that supports the delivery of the strategic objectives

- Ensuring that the longer-term benefits and risks of business decisions are fully considered and fit with the overall financial strategy

- Delivering good financial management and governance across the organisation

- Strategic oversight of the development of a commercial offer, risk and audit as part of a wider portfolio

Having a key trustee relationship with the Treasurer, co- leading the Finance Sub Committee, you will join the Senior Leadership Team, who are a dynamic team of people working collaboratively across their portfolios to realise the aims and objectives of the charity. As part of the senior team, you will be expected to lead and shape the work across their area, to inspire staff as well as to challenge ways of working with a focus on delivering on the strategic aims and to the highest standards. This role will take an active role in driving forward cultural and strategic change across the organisation.

About You

The role demands flexibility, a high level of self-awareness and a 'can-do' attitude reflecting the demands of the operating environment both internally and externally. You must be proactive in keeping your professional knowledge up to date and have a commitment to personal and professional development.

You will have:

- Membership to an accredited accountancy body recognised by IFAC, (i.e. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA} qualified through examination, and subject to oversight by a professional body that upholds professional standards and exercises disciplinary powers.

- Experience of leading an agile approach to organisational budgeting and dynamic financial forecasting in a complex organisation.

- Experience at strategic level of financial management in the voluntary, public and / or private sector.

Our client is on the lookout for a skilled Finance Systems Manager to become a part of our Finance Department at the head office. They are in the midst of transitioning our Website OMS system from Elucid to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Despite this change, all finance reporting will continue with our existing system, Microsoft Navision. The Finance Systems Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial elements within system updates and upgrades, driving the current OMS project to successful completion.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as the go-to expert for advising on the finance elements of the new OMS system, ensuring delivery of high-quality service.
• Implement governance and enhance controls for system-based financial transactions.
• Analyze data and user feedback to aid the project leadership in making informed decisions on system development.
• Review and approve testing scenarios to ensure compliance with financial requirements.
• Identify and solve potential issues, offering solutions to challenges faced by the Finance team.
• Conduct finance testing to verify correct data flow into the chart of accounts and ensure timely integration with payment platforms.
• Lead the coordination and management of incidents and change requests related to finance.
• Create metrics to track and report on finance system defects and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align needs and expectations with project milestones for smooth implementations.
• Maintain close communication with business stakeholders to align finance processes with business requirements.
• Oversee the testing of custom reports developed for the Finance department, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
• Develop and provide training materials for the Finance team to ensure effective use of new systems and processes.

Requirements:

• Proficient in finance functions and systems.
• Proven track record of implementing finance systems, with a deep understanding of financial accounting principles, month-end processes, and finance operations.
• Experience in managing enhancements or upgrades, including writing/agreeing on functional specifications and overseeing the change/development stages through to testing and release.
• Skilled in testing and adapting processes to meet Finance requirements, ensuring adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across functions to implement new systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the capacity to anticipate potential issues and devise contingency plans.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is beneficial.
• Experience with Microsoft Navision is considered an advantage.
