About the Site Engineer role

About the role:

Our DS Smith Packaging site in Burscough is looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer, either multi-skilled or with an electrical bias (with the ability to fault find and resolve some mechanical issues). As a Network Engineer, you will provide operational support and carry out planned work like upgrades and failover exercises as well as providing input into service improvements.

We have several projects underway in Wi-Fi, On-Prem Datacentre and Cloud solutions that require skilled, self-sufficient, and determined engineers to drive improvements and good practices, as well as ensuring current legacy infrastructure remains stable.

You will need the skills to:

• Provide support for incident and problem resolution, this could involve out of hours work.
• Implement BAU exercises, this could involve out of hours work.
• Use your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organisation and 3rd-Parties suppliers.
• Understand ITSM process with a focus on Incident, Problem and Accept into Service Management.
• Conduct network monitoring and analysis tooling - e.g. BMC Entuity, Wireshark and NetScout
• Provide strong technical knowledge in Cloud and On-Prem Network Infrastructure, Next Generation Firewall, Load-balancing, and PKI technologies

• Get involved in Cradle to Grave Projects by:

  • Working with the wider engineering and business teams to design safe plants in line with relevant safety standards, such as BS EN 61508, BS EN 60079 and BS EN 4126.

  • Working with the Process Engineering Discipline Lead to identify and develop business improvements.
  • Engaging in the employee development program to support your technical and behavioural growth.

Essential Criteria for Senior Process Engineer:

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related subject and a relevant level of experience.
• Experience in developing process plant design deliverables in a highly regulated industry.
• Experience of the HAZOP process.
• Knowledge of the legislative, regulatory, quality and environmental requirements relating to engineering design projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, such that difficult concepts can be conveyed clearly and concisely to customers, regulators and key stakeholders.
• Evidence of problem solving and seeking solutions.
• Ability to obtain SC level security clearance (this includes but is not limited to identity, employment, financial and criminal record checks plus 5 years' worth of UK residency).

Desirable Criteria for Senior Process Engineer:

• Chartered Engineer.
• Experience within the nuclear industry.
